SHOCK ROYAL RUMBLE: Zak Starkey Sacked from The Who, Teams Up with Paul McCartney and John Lennon's Sons for "The Beatles Kids"

In a stunning turn of events, Zak Starkey, drummer for legendary rock band The Who, has been sacked - again! Just one month after his reinstatement, the 59-year-old son of Ringo Starr was given the boot by Pete Townshend. But don't worry, fans - Zak's not going quietly into the night. In fact, he's teaming up with some very special collaborators to create a new musical project that's sure to send shockwaves through the music industry.

Zak has confirmed that he'll be working on "The Beatles Kids" with none other than Sean Lennon (John Lennon's son) and James McCartney (Paul McCartney's son). The trio has already collaborated on a song, which Zak says is sounding "great". But what's behind this unexpected alliance? According to Zak, it all started when he was looking for someone to contribute to his track "Rip Off".

He has now revealed that he is working on new music with Sean Lennon (L) and James McCartney (R) and they have collaborated on a song

"I thought it was a daft idea," Zak admitted in an interview with thescholarlynote.com. "But I've got to know James well over the last decade and Sean over the last five years, and we have become great friends." And as for any concerns about the chemistry between them? Zak laughed it off. "We were nervous in case there was no chemistry, but there was loads, and it sounded great. James' voice is powerful - it nearly blew me off my seat!"

But back to The Who. Zak's sacking comes just months ahead of the band's farewell tour across North America. And in a stunning twist, Pete Townshend revealed that Scott Devours will be replacing him on drums. But don't think for a second that Zak is going down without a fight.

"I was fired two weeks after reinstatement," Zak claimed in a scathing Instagram post. "I love The Who and would never have quit. So I didn't make the statement... quitting The Who would also have let down the countless amazing people who stood up for me (thank you all a million times over and more) thru the weeks of mayhem..."

Speaking in a new interview, Zak admitted that the idea was something he had avoided for fears of being 'judged forever' (The Beatles pictured)

Zak went on to list his various musical projects, including releasing singles but not touring because members are "so busy". And then he dropped the bombshell: The Who had never actually fired him. It was just a case of "retirement" - Zak was being let go to focus on his own projects.

"I had a great phone chat with Roger at the end of last week, which truly confused both of us!" Zak wrote. "Rog said I hadn't been 'fired'...I had been 'retired' to work n my own projects." But don't think for a second that Zak is going quietly into the night. He's still got his sights set on The Who, and he's not afraid to speak his mind.

As for "The Beatles Kids", Zak says it's all about creating something new and exciting. And with Sean Lennon and James McCartney by his side, fans are in for a real treat.

He told The Sun: 'I thought it was a daft idea. But I've got to know James well over the last decade and Sean over the last five years and we have become great friends' (pictured with his dad Ringo Starr in 2016)

"It's like a dream come true," Zak gushed. "I mean, can you imagine? John's son, Paul's son, Ringo's son... we're talking The Beatles royalty here!" And as for what's next? Zak is keeping mum, but one thing's for sure - this is just the beginning of a very exciting new chapter in his career.

Stay tuned, folks. This royal rumble has only just begun!

Guitarist Pete Townshend took to Instagram last month to announce that Zak, the Who’s drummer since 1996, was no longer part of the band

Zak has since claimed his departure was not a mutual decision and that he was fired from the band (pictured in June 2023)

Resharing The Who's post, Zak hit back: 'I was fired and asked to make a statement saying I had quit the who to pursue my other musical endeavours this would be a lie'
