Yungblud's Hilarious Grandpa: Rod Stewart Unmasked!
ROCK 'N' ROLL SHOCKER! Yungblud Reveals He Thought Rod Stewart Was His Grandfather - And the Legendary Singer Responds with a Cheeky DM!
In a jaw-dropping confession, singer-songwriter Yungblud (whose real name is Dominic Richard Harrison) spilled the tea on his childhood secrets. The 28-year-old rockstar revealed that he grew up believing the iconic Rod Stewart was his grandfather - and it's all thanks to his doting nan!
Appearing on "The Capital Evening Show" with host Jimmy Hill, Yungblud shared a hilarious anecdote about how his nan used to spin tales about his family history. It turned out that his mum had grown up without her dad around, and his nan was the master of creative storytelling.
"I'll give you some context," Yungblud began, "my mum never had a dad. My nan was always a very imaginative lady, and my nan would lie to me. She'd put me in a foot bath and say that Rod Stewart was my grandfather for, like, my formative years."
We can't even begin to imagine what it must have been like growing up with such outlandish tales! But things took a turn when Yungblud was just 9 years old on a trip to ASDA (that's Asda, the UK-based supermarket chain). He picked up a Rod Stewart CD and innocently asked his nan, "When is Granddad coming home?"
The moment caught everyone off guard - including the checkout staff at ASDA! "Everyone started laughing," Yungblud recalled, "knowing that they caught my grandmother in a blatant lie!"
But that's not all - it seems Rod Stewart himself got wind of the story and had some fun with it. The legendary singer reportedly reached out to Yungblud on Instagram, saying, "Alright, my wee grandson!" Yungblud laughed, "Rod Stewart, man! He's got the bants!"
This isn't the first time Yungblud has made headlines for his quirky behavior. Earlier this month, he was hailed as one of the most rock 'n' roll acts in years after smoking before kissing a fan and handing her his cigarette while shirtless. Yes, you read that right - shirtless!
But don't worry; it seems fans are more concerned about Yungblud's music than his antics. As one Twitter user put it, "Everything I see about this guy is like... he's the greatest student of what actually makes rockstars. It's unfortunate about the... you know... music part."
Others chimed in with similar sentiments: "I don't know who this is but it's the most rock n roll thing I've seen in 30 years," and, "Love this guy so much - he could easily be the biggest rockstar in the world if his music wasn't borderline unlistenable!"
And speaking of rockstars, Yungblud recently paid tribute to Ozzy Osbourne with a heartfelt performance. After meeting Ozzy in 2022, the two formed an unlikely bond that reminded fans of a father-son relationship. Unfortunately, Ozzy passed away on July 22 at the age of 76.
Yungblud was among those who gave moving readings at Ozzy's funeral and even performed at his farewell concert at Birmingham's Villa Park in June. It's clear that the singer has got the rock 'n' roll spirit down pat - even if his music doesn't quite live up to expectations!
