Why Victoria Beckham Hasn't Smiled: David's Secret Role Revealed!
SPICE GIRL'S DIRTY SECRET: VICTORIA BECKHAM EXPOSES WHY SHE'S ALWAYS LOOKED SO MOODY ON THE RED CARPET
For years, Victoria Beckham has been synonymous with her steely pout and perpetual scowl on the red carpet. But in a shocking revelation, the fashion designer, 51, has finally spilled the beans on why she's always looked like a miserable cow who doesn't smile.
And it's all down to her husband David!
In an explosive episode of her self-titled Netflix docuseries, Victoria reveals that her signature 'pout' is not just about being moody or unapproachable. It's actually because of the way she stands on the red carpet - with David always standing on her left side.
"I've looked miserable for all these years," she confesses, "because when we stand on the red carpet, this guy [David] has always stood on the left. I didn't realize that when I smile, which I do! I smile from the left, because if I smile from the right, I look unwell."
But that's not all - Victoria also opens up about how a series of public failures and brutal media attacks in the early 2000s left her feeling like she wasn't good enough. She recalls trying to launch a solo music career with her single "Out of Your Mind" featuring Dane Bowers, but it was met with widespread criticism.
"At that point, people were questioning what I was doing," Victoria says, getting choked up. "I'd be lying if I said I was the best singer or dancer...but when people are mean and you're hearing things and you're seeing things and you're constantly made to feel you're not good enough, that really hurts."
Her husband David chimes in, revealing how he first met Victoria - a bubbly, confident spice girl. "When we first met, she was smiley, bubbly and confident," he says. "But slowly, over the years, I saw her become more self-conscious...the public criticism got to her, and it started to affect her confidence."
And that's when the 'miserable cow' persona began to take shape. Victoria reveals how the constant scrutiny made her tense up whenever she knew a camera was rolling.
"The minute I see a camera, I change," she admits. "The barrier goes up, my armour goes on...and that's when the miserable cow who doesn't smile comes out."
It's clear that David has been a rock for Victoria throughout this ordeal. He praises her as "unbelievably hard-working and very clever", adding that he thinks the world needs to see more of her softer side.
The Netflix documentary, which delves into Victoria's fashion brand and follows her lead-up to Paris Fashion Week last September, is a must-watch for fans of the Beckhams. But it's not just about their glamorous lives - it's also about the human side of this powerful couple, who have been married for over two decades.
As Victoria herself puts it, "I'd love to have the confidence to walk out of a restaurant and smile...but I just can't do it." But with her Netflix docuseries, she's finally letting her guard down and showing the world that even the most put-together personas can be vulnerable too.
