The world of reality TV has seen its fair share of dramatic moments, but few have been as harrowing as Ty Pennington's recent health scare. The charismatic host, best known for his work on TLC's "Trading Spaces" and "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," has been open about his terrifying ordeal, which left him fighting for his life in an ICU.

But that's not all - Ty's love life has also made headlines recently, with the TV personality tying the knot with his long-time partner Kellee Merrell in a romantic ceremony surrounded by close friends and family. And as it turns out, their whirlwind romance was sparked during a chance encounter in Toronto over a decade ago!

From Modelling to Mayhem: How Ty's Career Almost Took a Fatal Turn

Before he became a household name, Ty Pennington had a promising modelling career with J. Crew, which catapulted him into the spotlight overnight. However, fate had other plans - just one week after his big break, Ty was involved in a horrific car accident that left him shaken and changed his career trajectory forever.

"I was catapulted out of a barreling jeep, sliding across a razor-sharp road on my backside," he recounted in an Instagram post. "Somehow, I survived... but my buttocks sadly did not." It was just one of many unforgettable moments from the popular series.

When "Extreme Makeover" came to an end in 2012, Ty continued to host other renovation shows and even started renovating his own home with his then-partner Kellee. Speaking about their relationship, Ty gushed: "I have admired Kellee from afar for years. She's a beautiful person inside and out."
