Two Epic Thrones Spin-Offs Set for Release in 2026!

Game of Thrones fans have a lot to look forward to in 2026 with House of the Dragon back for its third series next June

GAME OF THRONES FANS, REJOICE! 2026 IS SHAPE UP TO BE THE YEAR OF WINTERFELL

The wait is finally over for fans of the beloved fantasy series Game of Thrones! After years of delays and uncertainty, HBO has officially confirmed the release dates for not one, but TWO new spin-off shows set in the iconic world of Westeros. And trust us, it's going to be a wild ride.

According to insiders, A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms, the latest addition to the GoT family, is currently in post-production and will premiere in January 2026. Yes, you read that right - January! Fans who were initially led to believe they'd have to wait until later this year can finally breathe a sigh of relief.

The spin-off show, which stars Matt Smith (pictured), Emma D'Arcy and Olivia Cooke, will be joined in its release with new spin-off show A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms

But that's not all - House Of The Dragon, the highly anticipated prequel series, is set to return for its third season in June 2026. And get this: it'll be the first time ever that two series set in Westeros will hit our screens in the same year! Talk about a dragon-sized feast for fans.

The news has sent shockwaves of excitement through the GoT community, with fans taking to social media to express their joy. "We have never been more back!" wrote one enthusiastic fan on X (formerly Twitter). Another chimed in: "2026 is officially a Thrones Year" - and we couldn't agree more.

But what's behind HBO's sudden change of heart? Insiders suggest that the production company has learned from past mistakes, streamlining their process to ensure timely releases. Could this be the start of a new era for GoT fans?

And if that weren't enough, there's also talk of a potential movie set in the world of Westeros. Warner Bros is reportedly laying the groundwork for "at least one film" based on George R.R. Martin's beloved fantasy novels. The project is still in its infancy, lacking a director, cast, or script - but we can't help but feel a sense of anticipation.

Initially, showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss had envisioned concluding the series with a theatrical trilogy instead of the 2019 finale. Now, it seems that vision may finally come to fruition. And who better to bring it to life than Martin himself? The author has hinted at the possibility of a movie as far back as 2014 - could this be the start of something big?

But not all GoT spin-offs have been given the green light. In an interview with Screen Rant, Kit Harrington (remember him from his iconic role as Jon Snow?) revealed that plans for a spin-off sequel focused on his character had been shelved. "I hadn't really ever spoken about it, because it was in development," he explained. "I didn't want it leaked out that it was being developed... But currently, it's not worth it."

While fans may be disappointed by the news of Jon Snow's spin-off demise, there's still plenty to look forward to in 2026. So mark your calendars for January and June - we'll see you at Winterfell!
