Travis Scott's $300k Gas Guzzler: Designer Bag or Climate Crime?
TRAVIS SCOTT'S $300,000 FASHION FRENZY: RAPPER REVEALS HE FLEW TO PARIS FOR A SINGLE DESIGNER BAG
In a shocking admission, rapper Travis Scott revealed that he spent a whopping $300,000 on gas to fly from Los Angeles to Paris just to get his hands on the highly coveted Louis Vuitton x Murakami bag. Yes, you read that right – the 34-year-old musician was so obsessed with this designer item that he went all out and splurged on a first-class ticket to the City of Love.
The jaw-dropping revelation came during a panel discussion at Fanatics Fest, where Scott was joined by Michael Rubin, founder and CEO of Fanatics, and Tom Brady. Moderator Caio Amato asked Scott about his favorite brand collaborations, but it wasn't long before Rubin dished out some serious shade. "Did you fly to Paris to pick up an LV Murakami bag from LA?" Rubin quipped, making the audience erupt in laughter.
Scott, known for his outrageous fashion sense and love of designer goods, sheepishly admitted, "Yeah." It's no secret that Scott has a soft spot for Louis Vuitton – he's been spotted with their bags on numerous occasions, and even attended the brand's Menswear show during Paris Fashion Week in January. But this particular purchase takes the cake.
Rubin couldn't resist teasing his friend further, saying, "The guy spent about $300,000 on gas to pick up a bag that he was so excited about. So, I'm just saying, when he likes something, he goes all in." Scott chuckled and replied, "Yeah, if I focus on something, I go get it. It's crazy."
This isn't the first time Scott has been accused of being a bit too extravagant with his spending. Remember his ex, Kylie Jenner? The 27-year-old reality TV star was slammed for flying her $72.8 million private jet during the California wildfires earlier this year – and it turns out she's made multiple trips on the luxurious plane since then.
According to reports by The Scholarly Note, Kylie took her ritzy jet on no less than 11 flights since January, with four of those journeys lasting under an hour. On one particularly short trip, the Bombardier Global 7500 completed a mind-boggling 15-minute flight between Los Angeles and Camarillo, California. And get this – the jet spent a whopping 36 minutes in the air on another journey to Palm Springs, emitting three tons of CO2 emissions at a cost of $1,555.
But wait, there's more! Kylie has been criticized for her carbon footprint before, and it seems she's not learning from her mistakes. The mom-of-two has shared plenty of photos of herself and family members on the jet, giving fans a glimpse into their luxe lifestyle.
Meanwhile, back at Fanatics Fest, Scott was in his element – performing a surprise set after the panel discussion, complete with Oakley Meta AI glasses that can capture Ultra HD point-of-view video. The rapper even asked security guards to let guests get closer to the stage, and the crowd went wild as he launched into hits like "Sicko Mode."
When asked about the future of collaborations, Scott had some insightful thoughts: "I think it's about trusting the youth and allowing them to step in the seat and giving them some sort of creative reigns. I think that's the next level of collaboration instead of one-off partnerships." He even took a dig at big corporations, saying, "High corporations always forget about the people sometimes and what they really want."
It seems Travis Scott is still living his best life – designer bags and all.
