ROYAL RUMINATIONS AND FOOTBALL FRENZY: PRINCE WILLIAM'S ASTON VILLA SHOCKER

In a candid conversation with Hollywood A-lister Eugene Levy, Prince William has revealed why Tom Hanks is an unlikely fan of Aston Villa FC - and it's not just because of their footballing prowess. The Prince of Wales, known for his love of the beautiful game, let slip that Hanks' decision to support the Birmingham-based team was largely due to its name.

Levy, star of Schitt's Creek and American Pie, met with William as part of a new documentary series, The Reluctant Traveller With Eugene Levy. As they chatted over a cuppa, William couldn't resist plugging his favorite football team, Aston Villa, which has long been a source of fascination for Hanks.

"Tom Hanks is a big fan," William boasted to Levy, who playfully responded, "Oh, maybe that's where I've heard it." Little did they know, this chance encounter would lead to some juicy gossip about the world of football.

It seems Hanks was won over by the team's name alone. In a previous interview, he revealed that he thought Aston Villa sounded like a "place you'd go on holiday in the summertime". One can only imagine what he made of his first visit to Birmingham - a city not exactly known for its sunny disposition.

William, ever the enthusiast, quipped, "When actually, if [Hanks] turns up to Birmingham, it's not that sunshiney." Ouch! But in all seriousness, the Prince's love for Aston Villa is well-documented. He's been spotted at numerous matches, and even brought his eldest son George along to watch them take on Liverpool last season.

US actor Tom Hanks is also an Aston Villa fan, and was pictured at last year's final game of the season

Speaking of which, Hanks was over the moon when he attended their final game of the season, declaring, "Good news on the horizon, lets hope so. Up the Villa! Forever Villa." His dedication to the team is admirable, if a bit... unusual.

Meanwhile, Prince William has been making waves in other areas of his life. The Reluctant Traveller With Eugene Levy sees the actor take a trip to the UK, where he's invited on a private tour of Windsor Castle with the Prince himself. Levy describes meeting William as "one of the most thrilling days of my life".

"Prince William was an exceptionally gracious host and I was so impressed with how at ease he made me feel," Levy gushes. "A smart young man with a great sense of humor." We're sure William appreciated the kind words.

The documentary also delves into the emotional side of Prince William's life, as he reflects on his late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II. Speaking candidly about Windsor Castle, William admits, "It's been quite a bit of change, so you do sort of, you think about them not being here anymore... She loved it here, she spent most of her time here."

Showing Levy around the castle, William is clearly trying to honor his grandmother's memory. As he puts it, "She had her horses here as well, as you can imagine that was a big deal for her so that's why she loved it here." We're sure Queen Elizabeth II would be proud of her grandson's dedication.

The full episode of The Reluctant Traveller With Eugene Levy will air on Apple TV+ in the UK from Friday. So grab your popcorn, settle in, and get ready for a royally good time!
