Todd Chrisley's 'Back to Prison' Joke Over Julie's Natural Hair After Release
SCANDAL IN THE CHRISELY CAMP: Todd Jokes About Returning to Prison Over Julie's Natural Hair Color
In a shocking revelation, reality TV stars Todd and Julie Chrisley have opened up about their latest drama - and it has nothing to do with their infamous tax evasion case or the presidential pardon that set them free. No, this time around, it's all about hair.
After serving over two years behind bars for tax evasion, fraud, and conspiracy, the couple was granted a full pardon by Donald Trump in May 2025, much to the delight of their fans and family members. But little did anyone know that Julie's return to freedom would be met with a bit of a rough patch - literally.
The first photos taken of Julie after her release showed her sporting brown and gray locks instead of her signature blonde 'do. The once-manicured tresses were now a far cry from the polished look we're used to seeing on our beloved reality TV star. But don't worry, it was only temporary!
In an interview with their podcast, Chrisley Confessions 2.0, Julie dished about the paparazzi shots of her natural hair and described them as "horrible." And that's when things got juicy. Her husband, Todd, chimed in, joking that he considered going back behind bars when he saw his wife's new look.
"Listen, I will say, you set the bar low," Todd quipped. "You had to go nowhere but up." Julie shot back, laughing, "That wasn't very nice!" But Todd continued to dig himself a deeper hole by confessing that he initially thought about returning to prison when he saw his wife's new hairdo.
"I'm just trying to be honest," he said, chuckling. "I'm not gonna lie, I first saw you, when I got out of that car, and I started thinking about going back [to prison]. But then I thought, let me embrace this."
The couple has been married for nearly three decades, and Todd had never seen Julie with her natural hair before. In fact, he admitted that it was a "rough moment" for him.
"I mean it was a rough moment," he said. "It was a rough moment because I'd never seen you dark in my life." It's clear that Todd was still getting used to the new look!
But what led to Julie's drastic hair change? As it turns out, she had to grow her hair out while behind bars at Kentucky's Federal Medical Center due to limited access to a salon. When she arrived at the prison, her blonde locks were already starting to take on a more muted tone.
"I went to prison with highlights in my hair," Julie explained. "But when I got there, they faded pretty quickly... before I self-surrendered." Luckily, a talented inmate stylist came to the rescue and gave her a makeshift makeover using what little she had on hand.
"When I tell you they looked so good, it looked like I'd been to a salon on the outside," Julie said with a smile. We're glad that prison life didn't put too much of a dent in her signature style!
The Chrisleys' latest scandal comes hot on the heels of their highly publicized tax evasion case, which saw them facing years behind bars if not for Trump's intervention. The couple was found guilty in 2022 and initially faced lengthy sentences - Julie was expected to be released in 2028, while Todd had until 2032.
But thanks to a presidential pardon, the Chrisleys are now free to live their best lives once again. And it seems like they're taking no prisoners (pun intended) with their latest antics!
In a sweet moment, Trump personally called the couple's daughter, Savannah, from the Oval Office to inform her of his decision to grant them a full pardon.
"It's a great thing because your parents are going to be free and clean," he said on the call. And it looks like they're taking their newfound freedom in stride - even if that means navigating the ups and downs of each other's hairstyles!
