Trump continued: "He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us."

She expressed her condolences to Kirk's family, saying: "I can't stop thinking about Charlie's wife and their small kids. My heart is with them and all who loved him."

Kirk, the co-founder of Turning Point USA, leaves behind a wife Erika, 36, and two young children – a three-year-old daughter and a one-year-old son. The nonprofit organization released a statement on Wednesday, saying: "It's with a heavy heart that we, the Turning Point USA leadership team, write to notify you that early this afternoon, Charlie went to his eternal reward with Jesus Christ in Heaven."
