Theo James' Lupa: A Star's Dining Dream with Mixed Reviews

White Lotus star Theo James's (pictured at Wimbledon on Sunday) new London restaurant has been hit by backlash from diners who have complained the food is 'disappointing'

SHOCKING REVIEW ALERT!

Theo James's Hyped-Up London Restaurant Lupa Falls Flat with Diners!

In a shocking turn of events, White Lotus star Theo James's new Italian eatery, Lupa, has been left reeling after receiving a flurry of scathing reviews from disgruntled diners. The restaurant, which opened in June and boasts a menu inspired by the flavors of Rome, has been criticized for serving up "disappointing" food that lacks flavor and being "rushed out the door" to make space for more customers.

The Scholly Note has learned that James, who reportedly lost out on becoming the next Bond (ouch!), teamed up with Ed Templeton, co-founder of Carousel, and chef Naz Hassan, formerly head chef at Pidgin in Hackney, to launch Lupa. But despite the all-star team behind it, the restaurant's strict dining policies have left many feeling underwhelmed.

One disappointed diner, Zohras Rose, claimed that the food was "a little disappointing" and lacked flavor, saying: "Tried a variety of dishes and they just didn't hit the spot for me. Service was good, though one-and-a-half hours for a sitting is quite rushed and we were offered dessert when we only had 10 minutes left."

Chrystelle Foulon echoed similar sentiments, stating that while the atmosphere at the restaurant was "lovely" and the service was "good," the food was "a little bit disappointing versus the reviews." She went on to say: "The pasta lacked flavor and included two small pieces of meat. The revisited tiramisu came with a cream that was bland to my taste. Also, but frequent in London - the one-and-a-half hour dining limit. Being told we had 10 minutes left along with the bill being brought without being asked if we wanted anything else, felt rushed."

The building at 73 Highbury Park in Islington previously housed the Highbury Arts Club

But not everyone has been singing Lupa's praises. Several customers have taken to social media to express their discontent with the restaurant's food and service.

Kartik Sudhakar, on the other hand, had a glowing experience at Lupa, saying: "We came to Lupa for lunch, the food was excellent and the vibe is super relaxed." Alexandre Laforce-Reynolds also raved about his visit, stating: "Delicious from the focaccia all the way to the tiramisu. Great ambience and lovely staff. Go eat!" Alan Dion added: "Absolutely fantastic new restaurant. Great food, great service and great value. Loved it!"

In a pre-opening interview, Templeton said: "Theo and I are both Highbury locals and share an ambition to open an enduring neighbourhood classic. It's taken eighteen months to make it happen, but we knew it was a special corner of Highbury from the start. We just needed a special chef who could help us bring the Roman dream to life."

Will Lupa be able to turn things around and win back the hearts of its critics? Only time will tell!
