Sydney Sweeney's Stunning Makeunder for 'Eden' – See Her Transformation!

Sydney Sweeney unveiled quite a dramatic make-under for her role as the real-life German settler Margret Wittmer in the first trailer for Ron Howard's $50M-budget survival thriller Eden, which debuted Wednesday

SHOCKING MAKEOVER! Sydney Sweeney Transforms into Real-Life German Settler for Ron Howard's Thrilling New Film, Eden

In a stunning transformation, 27-year-old Euphoria bombshell Sydney Sweeney has unveiled her dramatic new look as Margret Wittmer in the first trailer for Ron Howard's survival thriller, Eden. The actress, known for her blonde bombshell persona, has shed her glamourous image to play the real-life German settler who moved to the Galápagos archipelago with her husband and stepson in 1932.

The $50M-budget film, which hits US theaters on August 22, follows Margret's journey as she navigates the treacherous island, fends off deadly wildlife, and gives birth to a son and daughter amidst chaos. In one jaw-dropping scene, Sweeney's character has a wild birth experience where she must fight off feral animals just as her water breaks.

Audiences are used to seeing the 27-year-old Euphoria stunner looking every bit the Hollywood blonde bombshell (pictured in 2023)

But don't expect Eden to be all sunshine and rainbows. The film's trailer hints at dark secrets and sinister motives among the tight-knit community, including a mysterious person who throws another off a seaside cliff. Sweeney's Margret is determined to protect her family and her new home, but it seems that even she can't escape the danger lurking beneath the surface.

A STAR-STUDDED CAST

Eden boasts an all-star cast, including Ana de Armas as wealthy "baroness" Eloise Bosquet de Wagner Wehrhorn, who gets cozy with two devoted male companions in a steamy ocean threesome. Jude Law plays Dr. Friedrich Ritter, who becomes embroiled in the island's drama alongside Margret and her family.

Sydney's character was four months pregnant when she moved the Galápagos archipelago's Southern most island Floreana in 1932 with her husband Heinz (L, Daniel Brühl) and stepson Harry (R, Jonathan Tittel)

A REAL-LIFE INSPIRATION

The real-life Margret Wittmer was a German settler who moved to Floreana Island with her husband Heinz and stepson Harry in 1932. She wrote about her experiences in the 1959 book Floreana: A Woman's Pilgrimage to the Galápagos, which inspired Howard to bring her story to life on the big screen.

SWEENEY'S DIVERSE ROLES

Sweeney reportedly has a wild birth scene in Eden where she fends off feral animals just as her water breaks, and Margret eventually welcomes a son and daughter on the remote South American isle

This summer, Sweeney will be reprising her role as Cassie Howard in the third season of HBO hit show Euphoria. The actress is also set to star and executive produce Paul Feig's big-screen adaptation of Freida McFadden's novel The Housemaid, which Lionsgate plans to release in time for Christmas.

In another exciting project, Sweeney will be producing and starring in her Euphoria co-star Colman Domingo's feature directorial debut Scandalous!, a film about the love affair between Kim Novak and Sammy Davis Jr. And with several projects in the works, including the Reddit-based thriller I Pretended to Be a Missing Girl for Warner Bros and Jon M. Chu's sci-fi flick Split Fiction for Amazon MGM Studios, it's clear that Sweeney is one busy bee!

THE INFLUENCER

The tight-knit community soon discover 'their greatest threat isn't the brutal climate or deadly wildlife, but each other' as Eloise Bosquet de Wagner Wehrhorn (Ana de Armas) begins wielding a gun

Aside from her movie career, Sweeney has built a lucrative influencer empire with paid partnerships for brands like Samsung Mobile USA, Dr. Squatch, LANEIGE US, Bai, and HEYDUDE. With her sparkling personality and effortless charm, it's no wonder she's become one of the most sought-after talents in Hollywood.

'They're trying their best to ruin us,' Margret told Heinz. 'They won't, because we are a family'

The real Margret Wittmer (R) was buried on Floreana Island in 2000 when she died, at age 95, after expanding the settlement and writing about her experiences in the 1959 book Floreana: A Woman's Pilgrimage to the Galápagos

The Echo Valley actress replaced Daisy Edgar-Jones in the role back in 2023 due to her commitment to Twisters amid the SAG-AFTRA strikes

Sydney gushed during the Q&A at the TIFF premiere on September 7: 'It's every actor's dream to work with Ron (R). I grew up loving your films, but being able to work with you, I have just learned what an amazing human being you are'

Sweeney continued: 'And when Margret came to me, I was absolutely amazed by [it being] a true story and it wasn't her choice. And she had to follow her husband's footsteps and she had no idea what she was getting herself into. She was a child at that!'

Thus far, Eden has earned a dismal 57% critic approval rating (out of 30 reviews) on Rotten Tomatoes
