Swifties Frenzy: Travis Kelce's In-Game Slap Sparks Online Backlash

Travis Kelce, 35, was smacked in the helmet by LA Chargers player Teair Tart, 28, during the teams' first regular game of the NFL season in Brazil on Friday night

SHOCKING CELEBRITY FANS VS NFL PLAYER: THE UNPLANNED PLAY THAT SPARKED CHAOS

In a jaw-dropping turn of events, the usually peaceful world of sports was turned upside down when Travis Kelce and his Kansas City Chiefs suffered their first loss of the NFL regular season against the Los Angeles Chargers in São Paulo, Brazil. But what happened next will leave you speechless. In the midst of the intense game, a shocking incident occurred that left fans reeling - and sparked a full-blown social media feud.

According to eyewitnesses, Kelce, 35, was caught off guard by a ruthless helmet-to-helmet tackle from Chargers player Teair Tart, 28. The tight end's reaction? A stunned expression, followed by a dramatic throw of his hands in the air as if to say, "What just happened?" But that's not all - Tart didn't even get ejected from the game! Instead, the referees merely slapped the Chiefs with a 15-yard penalty and allowed him to continue playing.

Tart was allowed to stay in the game, but the Chargers received a 15 yard penalty. The targeting of Kelce cause great ire among Swift's fans, who made their feelings know on his social media accounts

But here's where things get really juicy. After the game, Tart took to social media to defend his actions, sharing a video of a skit from Dave Chappelle's now-defunct TV show, in which he was dressed as singer Rick James and quipped, "What did the five fingers say to the face? Slap!" Um, okay...

Meanwhile, Swifties - die-hard fans of Taylor Swift - were NOT having it. They took to social media to express their outrage and disgust at Tart's actions, calling out the NFL player for being a "poor example" to young fans. One enraged follower wrote, "My son looked up to you, what a (poop emoji) example you set!" Another used a GIF of Swift singing her song Mean, with the lyrics "Why you gotta be so mean?" - talk about a clever burn!

But here's the thing: the backlash seemed to be less about Tart and more about Taylor Swift. Yes, you read that right! While many fans were upset at Tart for his actions on the field, others took issue with Swift and her legion of fans. One fan even praised Tart, writing, "Thank you for upsetting the Swifties!" while another declared, "YOU'RE AMERICA'S FAVORITE!"

It seems like some folks just can't get enough of a good celebrity feud! The NFL has indeed seen a significant boost in female viewership since Kelce and Swift began dating in 2023 - with women making up a whopping 47% of the league's audience. As Marissa Solis, senior vice president of global brand and consumer marketing at the NFL, told USA Today in February, "We love Taylor. She's a huge icon among that audience... We were already growing with that audience before that, but I think she just helped us and came at the right time."

However, it looks like some fans are starting to get tired of the T-Swift effect on the NFL. As one fan succinctly put it, "Anything to be relevant, I guess." Ouch! With neither Kelce nor Swift commenting publicly on the incident - which was seen by millions around the world - it's clear that this drama is far from over.

Stay tuned, folks, as this celebrity feud continues to unfold. Will Tart's actions spark a wider conversation about player conduct and fan expectations? Or will Swifties continue to defend their beloved singer against all comers? One thing's for sure: we can't get enough of the drama!
