Sunny Hostin's Near-Death Experience on 'The View': A Shocking Medical Emergency!

Sunny Hostin, 56, revealed she 'almost died' due to an allergic reaction that she had during an episode of The View this week

BREAKING: Sunny Hostin Reveals She "Almost Died" on Live TV After Suffering Shocking Allergic Reaction!

Get ready for a drama-filled tale of medical emergency, panic, and ultimate survival as The View co-host Sunny Hostin shares the harrowing story of how she came THIS CLOSE to meeting her maker during an episode of the popular daytime talk show.

The 56-year-old TV personality, known for her sharp wit and sassy comments on the ABC program, revealed the shocking details of her near-death experience on Friday's episode. It all went down when guest Debbie Matenopoulos, a former View host herself, brought in some Greek dishes to share with the gang – little did Sunny know that one of those dishes contained WALNUTS, to which she is DEATHLY ALLERGIC!

Earlier on Wednesday, guest Debbie Matenopoulos made an appearance to promote her new cookbook titled Greek.ish - and also brought along a few meals for the hosts to taste

As Sunny began munching on the orzo dish, Alyssa Farah Griffin innocently asked if it contained walnuts. And just like that, panic set in! Sunny scribbled a hasty note to her co-host, detailing her severe allergy, and penned a "death note" for good measure.

"I panicked immediately," Sunny recalled, flashing back to the terrifying moment. "I was thinking, 'This is it, I'm going to die on live TV!'"

But thanks to some quick-thinking Disney nurses on set, who swooped in with an EpiPen and Benadryl, Sunny's life was saved! Griffin chimed in, praising the medical team for their swift action: "We're glad you made it through, Sunny!"

At one point, Matenopoulos - who previously was a host on The View back in the late 90s - described the items she brought, such as an orzo dish. However, Hostin soon found out that she was deathly allergic to one of the ingredients

This isn't the first time Sunny has spoken about her struggles. Back in 2021, she opened up to Us Weekly about her love for Funyuns – yes, those onion-flavored chips! – and how she likes to dip them in hot sauce (Ana Navarro's right next door, judging her snacking habits).

And remember when Sunny embarked on a weight loss journey, revealing she had gained 40 pounds during the COVID-19 pandemic? She credited Mounjaro, an injectable medication for adults with type 2 diabetes, with helping her shed those extra pounds – and then got candid about the "different experience" she had after stopping the meds. Talk about a rollercoaster ride of emotions!

So, what's Sunny's takeaway from this close call? "I'm just living life and feeling pretty good," she smiled, emphasizing that she's still snacking on those Funyuns (with hot sauce, naturally!).

Hostin said, 'She has this wonderful food, Greek food. And I have a terrible allergy to walnuts. And as I'm eating the food, Alyssa [Griffin] asks,

Sunny shared that she began 'to panic immediately' and penned a 'death note' to Griffin who was sitting directly next to her at the time

'But what was great was our Disney nurses, man, they are like superheroes. They came in ¿ nurse Jen came in ¿ with an EpiPen. She was testing me. I had Benadryl. I was scared,' the star expressed

And a few months earlier in March, Hostin got candid about her weight loss journey and discussed using Mounjaro - an injectable medication for adults with type 2 diabetes; seen earlier this month in NYC

'I was never a big eater, so I just sort of eat to live. I don't live to eat,' Sunny explained, and emphasize she also 'never stopped working out'; seen in March in NYC
