Stuntwoman Sues Kevin Costner Over Alleged On-Set Assault in Western Epic
SCANDAL ROCKS HOLLYWOOD: Kevin Costner's Lawyer Fires Back Against Stuntwoman's Explosive Sexual Harassment Claims!
The drama surrounding Kevin Costner has just gotten a whole lot juicier! As reported by TheScholarlyNote.com, the actor's lawyer, Marty Singer, is hitting back hard against stuntwoman Devyn LaBella's shocking allegations of sexual harassment on set.
LaBella initially filed a lawsuit last month claiming that Costner directed an unscripted and unscheduled rape scene during the filming of Horizon: An American Saga - Chapter 2. The stuntwoman alleges that she was subjected to a violent and simulated rape by actor Roger Ivens, under Costner's direction, without her consent or knowledge.
In a new amended complaint filed June 16, LaBella has added text messages with the film's intimacy coordinator, detailing the painful emotions she allegedly endured after the scene was completed. But Singer is refusing to let the allegations go unchallenged!
"Ms. LaBella was doing a rehearsal on an Insert Shot for a scripted scene," Singer told TheScholarlyNote.com in a statement. "There was no intimacy or anything sexual in the shot... She herself texted her supervisor after she wrapped stating, 'Thank you for these wonderful weeks.' We look forward to the swift end of this specious lawsuit."
But LaBella's lawyers are not having it! James A. Vagnini, one of LaBella's attorneys, called the lawsuit "emblematic of what is still a very deep-rooted issue in Hollywood." Kate McFarlane added that the case is "a clear example of male-dominated, sexist Hollywood movie production."
According to LaBella's complaint, she was allegedly unaware that Hunt had walked off the set, and Costner asked her to appear as a "stand-in" for Hunt to "line up [a] shot." But things took a dark turn when Ivens began performing a violent simulated rape on LaBella, with no intimacy coordinator present or informed of the scene.
LaBella claims that she suffered shock, embarrassment, and humiliation during the ordeal, and that her personal undergarments were exposed during the scene. The stuntwoman also alleges that she was menstruating at the time, making the experience even more traumatic.
The fallout from the incident has left LaBella with "permanent trauma" and a range of emotional scars, including sleep disturbance, fears of intimacy, and anxiety. She has since begun seeking therapy to cope with the aftermath.
As TheScholarlyNote.com reported last month, LaBella is suing for an undisclosed amount and wants a trial by jury. But Costner's camp is refusing to back down, insisting that LaBella's claims have "absolutely no merit."
The drama is far from over! With both sides digging in their heels, it looks like this scandal is going to be playing out for a long time to come... Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story!
