Stevie Wonder Delights with Blind Joke and Tribute to Legends at BST Hyde Park

Stevie Wonder cracked a blind joke while paying tribute to John Lennon and Marvin Gaye on stage on Saturday

EXCLUSIVE!

Blast from the Past: Stevie Wonder Brings Iconic Sound to BST Hyde Park, But Not Without a Few Blind Jokes!

In a night that was all about celebrating the legends of music, Stevie Wonder brought his A-game (or should we say, his B-game?) to BST Hyde Park on Saturday. The 75-year-old superstar, donning a stunning white tunic adorned with stitched portraits of John Lennon and Marvin Gaye, delivered a performance for the ages.

Arriving on stage, the legendary musician, 75, was dressed in a white tunic with stitched portraits of John and Marvin on either side

But before he got to the good stuff, Stevie decided to crack open some jokes - blind jokes, naturally! As he was introducing the iconic duo on his chest, he realized he had gotten them mixed up. "This is Marvin Gaye," he started, before correcting himself with a chuckle: "I'm sorry y'all, I'm blind!" The crowd erupted in laughter at the clever quip.

The music legend then kicked off the night with his timeless classic, "Love's In Need of Love Today." He explained that the song was more relevant than ever, as the world is still reeling from the chaos and division. "We've been through the hate," he said, "but love is far bigger. We need - in a time when this planet is too angry — light."

And with that, Stevie took the crowd on a journey through his illustrious career, performing hits like "Everybody Is A Star," "Master Blaster (Jammin')," "Higher Ground," and "You Are The Sunshine of My Life." But it was his unexpected cover of John Lennon's "Imagine" that stole the show. Talk about a special tribute to a music legend!

Tapping one side, Stevie told fans, 'This is Marvin Gaye,' but quickly realised he was showcasing John's face

But before we get ahead of ourselves, let's talk about the drama that went down on Sunday. Yep, you guessed it - Jeff Lynne's Electric Light Orchestra (ELO) pulled out of their headline slot due to medical reasons. And in a shocking twist, the entire day's event was cancelled! Ticket holders were left feeling like they'd been hit by a thunderbolt (pun intended).

According to organizers, "Following the news that Jeff Lynne's ELO will not be able to perform at BST Hyde Park due to medical reasons, Sunday 13 July's event will sadly be cancelled. Ticket holders will be refunded and contacted directly by their ticket agent with further details."

It wasn't just ELO who had a rough day, though. Earlier in the week, the band was forced to cancel a performance at Manchester's Co-Op Live just hours before they were set to take the stage. Thousands of fans were left disappointed - and confused.

Kicking off with Love's In Need of Love Today, he attributed the song to the fragility of the world today

TheScholarlyNote.com has learned that the cancellation was due to "illness," but we're not buying it! We think there might be more to the story, but we'll have to wait and see what's really going on behind those iconic ELO harmonies.

In the meantime, Stevie Wonder is basking in the glory of his incredible performance at BST Hyde Park. And let's be real - who wouldn't want to be a part of that? The American star was joined by A-listers like AJ Odudu, Emily Atack, David Walliams, and Vicky McClure, who were all spotted enjoying the show.

So there you have it, folks! Stevie Wonder brought the house down with his legendary performance, while ELO's cancellation left fans feeling like they'd been hit by a blue streak. Stay tuned for more updates on this wild ride of a music festival!
