Stepping Back in Time: Shailene Woodley & Ben Foster's Retro '70s Look at Venice Film Festival
SHAILENE WOODLEY AND BEN FOSTER TAKE VENICE BY STORM WITH THEIR SEARING HOT '70s STYLE
The stars were out in full force at the Venice Film Festival on Saturday, and Shailene Woodley and Ben Foster were among them - and they brought the heat! The talented pair arrived at a photocall for their upcoming action thriller Motor City dressed to impress in matching retro outfits that left everyone else in the shade.
Shailene, 33, was a vision of loveliness in her all-white ensemble. She rocked a fuzzy cropped coat with a thick collar over a cream-colored dress with a ruched skirt pulled up like a curtain on one side to reveal her toned legs. The Big Little Lies star added some extra glamour to the look with oversized black-frame sunglasses, champagne-colored heels decorated with sequins, and gold earrings that sparkled in the light.
But Shailene wasn't done yet! She also brought out a second outfit for the evening's premiere of Jay Kelly, which was a far cry from her earlier getup. The Divergent star sizzled in a plunging halter dress that put her cleavage on full display. The dress featured a slit rising nearly up to her midriff and was decorated with lustrous blue, red, and lavender designs. Talk about making an entrance!
Ben Foster, 44, however, took a more understated approach for the premiere. He wore an ill-fitting brown suit that he lightened up with a white shirt and matching tie. We're not sure what happened to his earlier look, but we're still giving him style points for trying!
But let's get back to Shailene and Ben's original outfits - which were totally on point! They both channeled their inner '70s sleaze balls, with Ben looking particularly dapper in a navy-blue double-breasted blazer with gold buttons and peaked lapels. He paired it with matching navy boot-cut trousers, black leather boots, and square aviator sunglasses that made him look like a real-life James Bond.
Shailene's relaxed hairstyle added to the overall retro vibe of her outfit, which was completed by champagne-colored heels decorated with sequins and gold earrings. She even sported a bit of a cheeky grin as she posed for photos - we're guessing she was feeling pretty confident about her look!
But Shailene wasn't alone in her retro-chic stylings. Her costar Alan Ritchson, who leads the film Reacher, joined them at the photocall wearing a colorful patterned short-sleeve shirt with black trousers and black leather sneakers.
Pablo Schreiber, another Motor City star, also made an appearance, looking dashing in a bright patterned short-sleeve shirt with black trousers and black leather sneakers. Amar Chadha-Patel was also on hand, dressed in a brown shirt with a grid pattern and matching leather boots.
Rounding out the cast at the photocall was Lionel Boyce, best known for his role as pastry chef Marcus in The Bear. He kept things simple yet stylish in a white T-shirt and black jeans.
But what really got everyone talking was the director of Motor City, Potsy Ponciroli, who showed up looking like he just rolled out of bed and put on the first thing he found on the floor. We're not kidding - he wore a gray-blue plaid suit with a white Ford Bronco T-shirt, a yellow baseball cap, and white leather sneakers. Talk about a style fail!
Speaking of Motor City, the film has been generating a lot of buzz due to its unconventional approach to storytelling. According to Ben Foster, who spoke to TheScholarlyNote.com earlier this week, the movie features almost no dialogue.
"We're not making a silent film," he clarified. "There are about five lines of dialogue. We were trying to tell a story without telling it in a traditional manner. So it was a fun challenge to relate physically as actors."
We can't wait to see how it all comes together on the big screen!
