Tinseltown Tornado: Celebrities Unite to Support Devastated Texas

The Lone Star State has been rocked by a natural disaster of epic proportions, leaving a trail of destruction and heartbreak in its wake. As the people of Texas struggle to come to terms with the devastating floods that have claimed at least 79 lives and left 41 missing, the city's most iconic residents are rallying around their neighbors in need.

Matthew McConaughey, the ruggedly handsome Oscar winner and Texas native, has broken his silence on the tragedy, issuing a heartfelt plea to his fans to "lend a helping hand" to those affected. Taking to Instagram, the 55-year-old Interstellar star wrote: "At least 70 lives have been lost, many more are unaccounted for, and countless Texans are hurting - inside and out." He continued, "If you're able, please lend a helping hand where and how you can. It's gonna be a long road ahead, but right now the shock, the pain, and the chaos need the steady hand of a neighbor."

The Oscar winner — who was born in Uvalde, Texas — took to X on Sunday, writing, 'At least 70 lives have been lost, many more are unaccounted for, and countless Texans are hurting - inside and out'

But McConaughey isn't the only A-lister stepping up to support the flood victims. Colombian pop superstar Shakira, 48, has announced that she'll be donating proceeds from her San Antonio concert to Catholic Charities of San Antonio, which is providing disaster relief to affected families.

"Dear San Antonio, Our hearts and prayers are with those affected by the flood in Central Texas," Shakira wrote on Instagram. "We are donating a portion of tonight's show proceeds to Catholic Charities of San Antonio, who are providing disaster relief to the families impacted." She added, "If you would like to join me in donating, please click on the link below. Your help is important and appreciated."

Meanwhile, country music darling Miranda Lambert, 41, has announced that her nonprofit, MuttNation, is launching a fundraiser to support pet owners who have been displaced by the floods. In an Instagram post, Lambert said: "I can't even come up with any words for the loss that everybody's suffering... Texas needs our help. As always @muttnation Foundation is jumping in to support, and if you'd like to join us please support our fundraiser."

But it's not just the A-listers who are stepping up to support their fellow Texans. Fixer Upper star Joanna Gaines, 47, has been sharing stories highlighting the devastation caused by the floods on her social media accounts.

And then there's pop sensation Maren Morris, who was born in Arlington, Texas. In an Instagram post, Morris wrote: "Thinking of my home state right now... The floods are devastating and people are still missing. There are several places to donate but I'll be donating to an incredibly impactful fund called the Texas Hill Country Community Foundation. They've set up a specific fund to support local efforts (nonprofits, local government, first responders, and local shelters). Link in my stories + bio ❤️‍"

As the people of Texas continue to pick up the pieces and rebuild their lives, it's clear that these celebrities are doing everything they can to help. And with the power of social media behind them, we can only imagine the impact they'll have on the recovery efforts.
