LOCK, STOCK AND TWO SMOKING BARS... NOT SO MUCH

Jason Flemyng, the 58-year-old star of Guy Ritchie's cult classic Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, has been banned from driving for six long months after getting caught speeding in his Kia Sorento. And let's just say, it's not exactly a proud moment for the veteran actor.

According to The Scholarly Note, Flemyng was clocked doing a whopping 24mph in a 20mph zone along the busy A205 in Clapham, southwest London, back on December 5 last year. Yeah, that's right, folks, the guy who played Tom in one of the most iconic British gangster films of all time can't even be bothered to follow a few simple speed limits.

But here's the thing: this isn't Flemyng's first rodeo. Oh no, he's got 12 points on his license from previous speeding offenses, and this latest infraction just pushed him over the edge (pun intended). And, according to The Scholarly Note, it was an administrative error that allowed him to avoid a ban last time around.

But not this time. No sir, this time the judge took a firm stance, issuing a six-month disqualification that will keep Flemyng off the roads until March next year. Ouch.

When asked if he wanted to claim exceptional hardship to avoid the ban, Flemyng, who was looking suitably dapper in his black suit, surprisingly declined to plead for leniency. "Well, my work and what I do for a living, and my charity work, all depend on me driving," he told the magistrates, as if that's supposed to excuse his reckless behavior.

Magistrate David Williams wasn't having it, though. "You already have 12 points on your license for speeding offenses," he scolded Flemyng. "You pleaded guilty now to this subsequent offense, which will also lead to three points. Your license will be endorsed with three penalty points. That means you actually have 15 points on your license. As of today, you are banned from driving for six months as a totter."

Translation: Flemyng is going to have to rely on taxis and public transport (gasp!) for the next six months.

But don't worry, folks, this isn't the end of the world. After all, Flemyng has been making us laugh and cry with his performances for over three decades now. He's a veteran actor who's worked with some of the biggest names in the business - Johnny Depp, Sean Connery, Vicky McClure (from Line of Duty), to name just a few.

The actor has been married to actress and producer Elly Fairman (right), best known for roles in Blitz and Casualty, since 2007

He got his start at the National Youth Theatre and the Royal Shakespeare Company, and then went on to join the Young Socialists (yeah, that's right, he was a socialist activist in the 80s). He even got expelled from the Labour Party for selling copies of the Militant newspaper. Talk about a wild ride!

But after turning his back on politics, Flemyng enrolled at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) and launched a successful acting career that's spanned three decades. He's had roles in some of the biggest British films of all time - Snatch (2000), From Hell (2001), The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (2003) to name just a few.

And let's not forget his more recent work on the hit ITV crime drama Trigger Point, alongside Line of Duty star Vicky McClure. We hear a second series has already been commissioned for release in 2026 - yay!

Well, there you have it folks. Jason Flemyng may have gotten himself banned from driving, but he's still got his sense of humor about it. After all, as he so humbly put it: "Maybe I should have thought about that before I drove 24mph in a 20mph zone."
