Soap Opera Star William Levy Dodges Conviction: Diversion Program Saves Day

William Levy, a popular Cuban-American soap opera star, has been accepted in to a misdemeanor diversion program in Broward County, Florida, according to court documents obtained by DailyMail.com

SCANDAL ALERT!

Latin America's Hottest Heartthrob William Levy Lands in Hot Water After Bizarre Arrest for "Causing a Disturbance" at Florida Restaurant - But Will He Get Off Scot-Free?

When it comes to Latin America's most eligible bachelors, Cuban-American soap opera star William Levy is definitely one of the top contenders. With his chiseled good looks and dashing charm, he's stolen hearts all over the world - including those of Hollywood A-listers like Jennifer Lopez! But despite his dashing reputation, Levy has found himself in a bit of a pickle after being arrested for allegedly causing a disturbance at a Florida restaurant earlier this year.

The latest development in his case comes after the 44-year-old actor was arrested for allegedly 'causing a disturbance' in a restaurant in Weston, Florida. Police determined that he was 'highly intoxicated' at the time, according to the arrest report; his mugshot is pictured

According to court documents obtained by The Scholarly Note.com, 44-year-old Levy was taken into custody on April 14th after police were called to Baires Grill in Weston, Florida following reports that he was "causing a disturbance" inside the eatery. And get this - when authorities arrived, they found him to be "highly intoxicated," according to the arrest report!

So what happened? Apparently, Levy got into an argument with the restaurant's manager and ignored multiple verbal warnings to leave the premises before finally being arrested and transported to jail.

But here's the juicy part: Levy is trying to get out of a conviction by participating in Broward County's Misdemeanor Diversion Program! That's right - if he completes the program by September 29th, he'll be able to avoid a criminal record altogether!

He was accepted into the misdemeanor diversion program ¿ which will help him avoid a conviction as a first-time offender ¿ on June 30, and he's required to complete it by September 29; pictured June 11 in Madrid, Spain

Now, we know what you're thinking: "What's the catch?" Well, aside from the fact that Levy will have to pay a $150 fee (aka the "costs of prosecution"), he'll also have to complete a program designed for first-time offenders. And get this - it's all part of Broward County's effort to "immediately accept responsibility for their actions, seek rehabilitation, and divert their cases from the criminal court system."

So what does this mean for Levy? Well, if he plays by the rules and completes his diversion program, he'll be able to keep his reputation intact. But if he screws up or fails to complete the program, he could be looking at a conviction - and potentially some serious damage to his image.

But wait, there's more! Levy's personal life has been just as dramatic as his professional one. Just last year, he announced that he and wife Elizabeth Gutiérrez were separating after 20 years together. And in the midst of all this drama, Levy managed to land a role in Jennifer Lopez's music video for her hit single "I'm Into You"! Talk about a tangled web!

He is faced charges of disorderly intoxication in a public place, causing a disturbance and trespassing after he was arrested in a Florida restaurant after he was allegedly asked to leave repeatedly

And let's not forget his kids - Christopher, the star baseball player who was named Sports Illustrated's Player of the Week in South Florida, and Kailey, an OmegaXL Sport Brand Ambassador. With a family as fabulous as this one, you know they'll be watching their dad's every move with bated breath.
