SNL Roasts JK Rowling: Emma Watson Feud Escalates!

The late night comedy show's 51st season premiere included a skit during their 'Weekend Update' segment that mocked Rowling over her controversial stance on the trans community

JK Rowling's Transphobic Tantrum Exposed by SNL!

The latest episode of Saturday Night Live (SNL) has left fans gagging over its hilarious take-down of JK Rowling's transphobic rantings, and we've got all the juicy details!

In a scathing skit during their 51st season premiere, hosted by Bad Bunny, Bowen Yang's portrayal of Dobby the House Elf had us dying laughing as he mercilessly mocked Rowling's stance on the trans community. The segment, part of their 'Weekend Update' segment, couldn't have been more timely, given the author's heated feud with Harry Potter star Emma Watson.

JK Rowling (right), author of the Harry Potter series, has been in a public feud over trans rights with Emma Watson, known for her role as Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter movies,

As the scene began, Colin Jost and Michael Che introduced the skit by shedding light on the current drama between Rowling and Watson. The author had publicly dubbed the celebrity "ignorant" after she refused to defend Rowling's transphobic views. And, boy, did Dobby give her a piece of his mind!

Che playfully asked Yang why he was there, and the elf nervously replied that he was ordered by his "master" (clearly, a nod to Rowling) to weigh in on the topic. When asked if he really had to, Dobby declared that he was under orders, prompting Che to ask if his master was indeed JK Rowling.

Yang's deadpan delivery as he replied, "Of course, sir! Oh, oh no. Dobby wasn't supposed to say" had us all cracking up. And then, the pièce de résistance: Yang bangs his head on the desk in a spot-on impression of the character's signature move!

During the skit, Bowen Yang portrayed the Harry Potter character Dobby the House Elf and said his 'master' ordered him to appear on the show and 'define once and for all what a woman is'

The skit only got better from there as Dobby began to sarcastically tout Rowling's "inclusionary" efforts, listing off the author's attempts at diversifying the Harry Potter universe – like making Dumbledore gay (after the fact) and Hermione black (on Broadway). Talk about a bad case of revisionist history!

But what really had us gagging was when Yang as Dobby started ranting about how "women's bathrooms are for women only, and girls and ghosts of girls." And, oh boy, did he get his facts straight? He even referenced the infamous Moaning Myrtle, another character from the series. You know, the one who died under mysterious circumstances in the girls' bathroom?

As Dobby continued to ramble on about how house elves are somehow always the problem (despite being only 1% of the population), Yang as the elf produced a t-shirt that read "They. K Rowling" – a clever nod to the author's infamous Twitter handle.

The elf further said that Dobby came to say that 'women's bathrooms are for women only, and girls and ghosts of girls' and produced a t-shirt with 'They K. Rowling' on the front when discussing Rowling's 'hate mail'

But wait, it gets even juicier! The skit then took a turn for the absurd when Colin Jost chimed in, saying he'd actually read the Harry Potter books (because, of course, who wouldn't?) and that since Dobby was given a piece of clothing, he was now officially a free elf. We're not sure what's more hilarious – Yang's antics or Jost's attempt to justify his own reading habits.

This skit comes hot on the heels of Rowling's very public feud with Watson and her former Harry Potter co-stars Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint. The author has been going after them relentlessly, claiming they've "cozied up" to a movement intent on eroding women's rights. Um, JK, it seems like you're the one who's been trying to erase trans people from existence!

As we all know, Watson recently came out in support of the trans community and criticized Rowling's views, which led to the author firing back with a series of passive-aggressive tweets that basically called Watson "ignorant" for her lack of life experience. Because, you know, being a multimillionaire movie star at 14 is totally relatable to most women.

Rowling previously vowed to 'never forgive' Watson or her Harry Potter co-stars Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint for having 'cozied up to a movement intent on eroding women's hard-won rights'

Rowling even went so far as to claim that Watson's recent driving ban (which she attributed to her busy schedule and being a movie star from a young age) was actually a result of her lack of life experience. Um, JK, that's not exactly how it works...

But we digress! The real tea is that Rowling has been trying to shift the blame onto Watson and her co-stars for speaking out against her transphobic views. In a series of tweets (because what's a celebrity feud without Twitter?), she claimed that they're using their links to Harry Potter to serve as "de facto spokespeople" for the movement.

And, honey, we've got some news for you: just because you created Harry Potter doesn't mean you own the rights to its message. Maybe it's time for you to take a seat and let others carry on your legacy – with a little more love and acceptance, of course!

Watson, who starred as Hermione Granger in the series, previously criticized Rowling which the author said 'poured more petrol on the flames' and further contributed to death threats and abuse

So, there you have it – SNL's epic takedown of JK Rowling's transphobic tantrum has left us all gagging in stitches! And we can't help but wonder: will this be the final nail in the coffin for Rowling's reputation as a champion of inclusivity? Only time (and Twitter) will tell!
