Simon Cowell's Heartfelt Fear for Son Eric and Fatherly Lessons
Simon Cowell's Secret Fears Revealed: The Britain's Got Talent Judge Opens Up About His 11-Year-Old Son Eric
In a heart-to-heart interview on This Morning, Simon Cowell has spilled the beans about his biggest fear as a father - and it's not what you'd expect from the notoriously tough TV mogul. The 65-year-old music executive revealed that he's petrified of one thing: having to give his son Eric a mobile phone.
Speaking candidly with Jeff Brazier, Simon shared his concerns about how much kids are exposed to at a young age. "I'm very worried, Jeff," he confessed. "Growing up, I learned things at the right time, but now it's like, how do you control what they see? It would be petrifying for me if Eric had access to anything that could harm him."
This is not the first time Simon has expressed his concerns about social media and its impact on children. Last year, he revealed that he doesn't allow Eric to have a mobile phone, despite many of his friends having one. "I don't have a mobile phone either," Simon explained to OK! Magazine at the Together for Short Lives Ball. "So it makes it easier not to give him one. I'm very careful with social media and I would never let him loose on an iPad or computer without supervision - I'd just be too nervous."
The Britain's Got Talent head judge also spoke about how much he loves being a dad, saying that it's the best thing to ever happen to him. "Honestly, everything," Simon gushed. "When we first saw Eric's scan, I was obsessed. And when he was born, I couldn't understand why he wouldn't cuddle with me - Lauren had to tell me it was because he was a baby!"
Simon and his partner Lauren Silverman have been together since 2004, but they haven't tied the knot yet. Despite not being married, Simon has been vocal about how much he loves his family life. "Having Eric is like winning Britain's Got Talent all over again," he said on This Morning.
As a father, Simon is determined to pass down valuable lessons to his son. One of the most important ones he's learned from his own dad is the importance of manners and respect for others. "My mum used to say that 'manners make the man'," Simon explained. "And my dad was very good about respecting people - I'm trying to teach Eric the same thing."
The couple has been through a lot since having Eric, including navigating the challenges of parenthood and dealing with the scrutiny of the media. But despite it all, Simon says that being a father is his greatest joy. "I love him so much," he said, choking back tears.
Simon Cowell's interview on This Morning has left fans of the show buzzing with excitement. Will Eric ever get a mobile phone? And what other secrets will Simon reveal about his family life in the future?
