Serena Williams Unveils Trim Figure at Tennis Hall of Fame, Credits GLP-1 for Weight Loss
Serena Williams Shows Off Her Stunning New Figure and Reveals the Secret Behind Her Weight Loss
In a jaw-dropping display of her new, slimmer physique, tennis superstar Serena Williams turned heads at the International Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport, Rhode Island on Saturday evening. The 5ft9in athlete looked absolutely stunning in a pale blue minidress paired with electric blue-and-pink high heels and her long blonde hair flowing down her back.
But what's even more surprising is that Williams has revealed she lost an astonishing 31lbs thanks to a weight-loss medication called GLP-1. This comes as a shock to fans, who had been wondering how the 43-year-old mother of two managed to get back into such incredible shape after welcoming her second daughter, Adira, just last year.
Williams, who is known for her dedication to fitness and wellness, has been open about her struggles with weight loss after giving birth. In fact, she told People magazine that it was "crazy" how hard she worked to regain her pre-pregnancy physique after Olympia's birth in 2017, but just couldn't seem to get there.
However, it seems like Williams has finally found the secret to getting back into shape. And it's not just about hitting the gym or eating a healthy diet – although those things are definitely important too! According to sources close to the tennis star, Williams turned to GLP-1 after being introduced to it by her husband, Alexis Ohanian, who is an investor in Ro, the healthcare company that prescribes the medication.
"I did a lot of research on it," Williams said. "I was like, 'is this a shortcut? What are the benefits? What are not the benefits?' I really wanted to dive into it before I just did it."
And it seems like all her hard work paid off – literally! Williams revealed that she's lost over 31lbs using GLP-1 and is feeling better than ever. "I just feel like something as simple as just getting down is a lot easier for me," she said. "I'm more active. My joints don't hurt as much. I just feel like I have a lot of energy and it's great."
But Williams' new figure isn't the only thing making headlines – her comments about former rival Maria Sharapova are also causing quite the stir. The two tennis stars have had their fair share of ups and downs over the years, but on Saturday night, Williams took to Instagram to praise Sharapova for her induction into the International Tennis Hall of Fame.
"Last night- I flew to Rhode Island for Maria Sharapova," Williams wrote. "Maria’s career as her dad put it yesterday- started with me and last night ended with me inducting her into the tennis hall of fame."
But what's really interesting is that just a few years ago, Williams would have never thought she'd be celebrating Sharapova's achievement like this. In fact, in 2013, Williams famously called Sharapova "boring" and said she was "with the guy with a black heart." However, it seems like all that has been water under the bridge now – and Williams is thrilled to see her former rival succeed.
"There are only a few players in my career who challenged me to be the very best, every single time we stepped out on the court," Williams said on Saturday night. "And Maria Sharapova is one of them."
Of course, no story about Serena Williams would be complete without mentioning her stunning looks – and her latest Instagram posts are absolutely dripping with glamour! On Thursday, the tennis star dropped three new images to Instagram where she was looking absolutely fabulous in a bright yellow swimsuit.
"MELANIN MELLOW-YELLOW," she wrote in the caption, flashing a winning smile while wearing black sunglasses and a scarf around her neck. Her 18 million followers went wild for the new look – and it's easy to see why!
But what really caught our attention was Williams' comments about body confidence. "I love that my body is not picture perfect," she wrote on Instagram in February, when she shared a flattering bikini photo. "I love getting to know a new version of my body... It is a change, but it's a change that has been well worth it."
It seems like Williams is finally feeling confident about her post-baby body – and we couldn't be happier for her!
