Serena Williams Sheds 31lbs: Inside Her Journey with GLP-1 Medication

Serena Williams flaunted her shrinking 5ft9in figure in boudoir-inspired attire while attending the launch of NikeSKIMS, which was held at Nike House of Innovation in Midtown Manhattan on Wednesday

Serena Williams' Jaw-Dropping Transformation: The Tennis Legend's Secret to Shedding 31 Pounds in Just Eight Months

The sports world was abuzz on Wednesday as tennis icon Serena Williams made a stunning appearance at the launch of NikeSKIMS, her latest collaboration with Kim Kardashian's shapewear brand. The 43-year-old retired tennis champ flaunted her dramatically slimmed-down figure in a daring animal-print teddy and matching blazer, leaving fans and fashionistas alike green with envy.

But what caught everyone's attention was not just Serena's enviable physique but also the fact that she has shed an impressive 31 pounds in just eight months. The former tennis world No.1 revealed her secret to weight loss is none other than the trendy GLP-1 agonist drug Zepbound, which she obtained through her role as investor and ambassador of the telehealth company Ro.

The 43-year-old retired tennis champ showcased her substantial weight loss in a animal-print teddy over black leggings, topped with a matching blazer, and pumps selected by stylist Kesha McLeod

"I feel like a lot of people have this stigma on GLP-1s and say things like, 'Oh, lazy people do it,' or 'If you're working hard enough, you don't need that,'" Serena told Vogue in an exclusive interview. "I know for a fact from my experience that it's simply not true. Sometimes you need help. Your story is your story, and it's okay to make that choice to do it if you want to. I did, and I'm really happy with it."

The four-time Olympic gold medalist added that she was "putting in the work" but still struggled to achieve her desired weight loss goals. She explained that using Zepbound helped her feel lighter not just physically but also mentally, sexier, and more confident.

But Serena isn't alone in her decision to try GLP-1s for weight loss. A slew of celebrities, including Oprah Winfrey, Kathy Bates, Kelly Clarkson, Whoopi Goldberg, Meghan Trainor, Elon Musk, Rebel Wilson, Chelsea Handler, Amy Schumer, Sharon Osbourne, and Tori Spelling, have all publicly admitted to using the medication.

Last month, Serena announced she shed 31lbs in eight months by taking the trendy GLP-1 agonist drug Zepbound, which she obtained through her new role as investor/ambassador of the telehealth company Ro

However, not everyone is as forthcoming about their weight loss secrets. A number of celebrities, including Selena Gomez, Mindy Kaling, Melissa McCarthy, Khloé Kardashian, Demi Lovato, Lana Del Rey, Christina Aguilera, and Ricki Lake, have remained suspiciously silent despite their own reported slimdowns.

Serena's latest fashion foray with NikeSKIMS is a far cry from her usual "safe" and "classic" style. The tennis legend, who previously earned a fashion design degree from The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, confessed to being obsessed with the edgy look she sported on Wednesday.

"I want to look better and hipper and fun!" Serena told TikTok in a post-show update. "So voila! Mixing high fashion with fast fashion."

Williams told Vogue: 'I feel like a lot of people have this stigma on GLP-1s and say things like,

To complete her look, hairstylist Angela Meadows coiffed Serena's waist-length blonde wig, while make-up artist Sheika Daley gave her a flawless complexion, defined brows, and luscious lashes.

Once inside the bash, Williams marveled at the massive poster featuring herself modeling in the NikeSKIMS campaign. "Nike gave me the wings, SKIMS gave me the fit — together, they gave us a moment," she declared in the advert.

"I feel unstoppable when I'm training in NikeSKIMS."

The four-time Olympic gold medalist told TikTok of her ensemble Wednesday: 'I am really obsessed with my fit! It's different for me because I usually am, like, safe fashion, like, classic'

Serena mingled with fellow celebs like Kim Kardashian and One Battle After Another actress Teyana Taylor at the event. The tennis legend is currently promoting her bi-monthly podcast Stockton Street on X Originals, which she co-hosts with her big sister Venus Williams.

The In the Arena producer-star is also an influencer extraordinaire, partnering with brands like Ritual, Audemars Piguet, and Beatbot.

On November 16, Serena will celebrate a major milestone with her husband Alexis Ohanian Sr. – their eighth wedding anniversary. The couple, who are proud parents of eight-year-old daughter Alexis Jr. and two-year-old daughter Adira, met in 2016 at a hotel in Rome.
