SELena Gomez Spills Secrets About Her Fiancé Benny Blanco: Why He Wouldn't Have Liked Her 5 Years Ago!

The highly anticipated wedding of the year is just around the corner, and Selena Gomez is giving fans a sneak peek into her whirlwind romance with fiancé Benny Blanco. In an exclusive interview with Allure magazine, the Rare Beauty founder opened up about her personal growth, her relationship with the record producer, and why she thinks he wouldn't have liked her five years ago.

As we all know, Selena has had her fair share of high-profile relationships in the past, including a tumultuous romance with Justin Bieber. But it's clear that Benny is the one who has finally brought stability and happiness into her life. "I don't think I would have been remotely mature enough" five years ago to be in a relationship with someone like Benny, Selena confesses.

The singer was still reeling from the aftermath of her breakup with Justin Bieber in March 2018 when she met Benny. But despite her rough patch, it's clear that she has since learned valuable lessons about love and relationships. "I've learned so many lessons [since then] that led me to being the best partner I could be for Benny," she reveals.

Selena also credits Benny with helping her stay grounded amidst the chaos of her fame. "He makes me feel very normal," she gushes, adding that he's one of the most grounding people in her life. It's clear that this couple is meant to be!

The loved-up duo began dating in 2023 and announced their engagement in December 2024. Now, they're set to tie the knot later this month in Montecito, California. But before the big day, Selena has been busy preparing for her special day with the help of her longtime makeup artist, Hung Vanngo.

When asked about her wedding planning process, Selena revealed that she's combining inspiration from Pinterest with expert advice from Hung to create the perfect look. "If I find [a makeup look] I like on Pinterest, I lean into that, and then I'll get a suggestion from Hung and combine it all," she explains.

But what really caught our attention is Selena's revelation about how they first met. In an earlier interview with Jake Shane, the singer confessed that she never thought Benny was "the one" when they initially met through work collaborations. "It's all about timing to meet that person even if I did think, 'Oh I need to take this a step forward then it wouldn't have worked'," she said.

However, fate had other plans for these two lovebirds! As Selena explained, their first encounter was far from romantic. In fact, they reunited for a project called "Single Soon" – which didn't exactly go as planned. But what happens next is nothing short of magic: after a chance encounter, Benny invited Selena to one of his dinner nights, and the rest is history!

'It's weird to think that only five years ago I wouldn't have been in the right place, but I've learned so many lessons [since then] that led me to being the best partner I could be for Benny,' said the Rare Beauty founder; seen in 2020

We can't wait to see these two lovebirds tie the knot later this month!
