SCARLETT JOHANSSON STEALS THE SHOW AT TORONTO FILM FESTIVAL WITH HER NEW FILM ELEANOR THE GREAT

In a dazzling display of style and substance, Scarlett Johansson made her mark at the Toronto Film Festival on Sunday. The 40-year-old actress, known for her Avengers alter ego Black Widow, stunned in a sleek ensemble that left fans and critics alike green with envy.

As she took to the stage to discuss her directorial debut, Eleanor The Great, Scarlett proved that she's not just a talented actress but also a savvy filmmaker. And it's no surprise why - after all, who better to learn from than industry legends like Robert Redford?

The 40-year-old actress made a glamorous appearance at the showbiz event on Sunday, where she led a talk on her new project

In an exclusive interview with The Scholarly Note, Scarlett dished about her experiences working with the veteran director on 1998's The Horse Whisperer when she was just 13 years old. "That was transformative for me," she revealed. "I understood I was getting so much more from him as an actor. He encouraged discovery - and that's stayed with me."

But what really set Scarlett's mind ablaze was the opportunity to collaborate with two of Hollywood's most talented ladies: British actress Erin Kellyman, 26, and American sweetheart June Squibb, 95. The trio formed a tight-knit bond on set, much to the delight of fans who've been eagerly awaiting news about their upcoming project.

And it seems that friendship isn't just limited to screen time. "June's gonna be in New York doing a play, so I'll just have to steal her for a Saturday," Scarlett joked about teaming up with June for an appearance on Saturday Night Live. The two even shared a laugh about how they could co-host or do the Weekend Update together.

Meanwhile, Erin Kellyman gushed about the experience of working alongside June and Scarlett. "It just felt like girls being girls," she told The Scholarly Note in a previous interview. "There's no age on that." The two actresses even shared dinner parties in their apartment building during filming, with Erin admitting to seeking June's fashion advice.

Eleanor The Great, which made its splashy debut at the Cannes Film Festival in May, is set for release on September 26. But what makes this film truly special? According to Scarlett, it's not about delivering a preachy message or pandering to audiences - it's simply about immersing viewers in the world of Eleanor and her unlikely friendship with a young student.

"I don't feel all movies have to deliver a message," Scarlett said firmly. "Just being able to sit in somebody else's shoes for an hour and 40 minutes - that's enough." And judging by the buzz surrounding this film, it seems audiences are more than ready to take the leap.

As The Scholarly Note can exclusively reveal, Erin Kellyman auditioned for Eleanor The Great in December 2023, leading to a flurry of Zoom calls with Scarlett before landing the role. Just weeks later, she began filming alongside June Squibb and Scarlett, cementing their bond as friends both on and off screen.

And so, with Eleanor The Great set to captivate audiences this fall, one thing is clear: Scarlett Johansson has well and truly proven herself as a force to be reckoned with in the world of cinema. But who's next on her radar? Only time will tell - but for now, we can't wait to see what this talented trio brings to the table.
