Savannah Guthrie Admits to 'Pro-Snoop' Parenting: The Controversial Approach

Savannah Guthrie revealed that she 'approves' of a controversial parenting tactic during a Wednesday appearance on TODAY With Jenna and Friends

Savannah Guthrie Spills Tea on Parenting Secrets: "I'm Pro-Snoop"

In a shocking revelation that's got everyone talking, Savannah Guthrie, co-host of TODAY With Jenna and Friends, has come out as a proud "snooper." During a recent appearance on the show, Savannah, 53, revealed that she's not afraid to check her kids' phones and iPads - and it's not just for their own good.

When discussing a July article from The Wall Street Journal about parents monitoring their children's online activities, Jenna Bush Hager couldn't help but raise an eyebrow. Some parents in the article were adamant that snooping was a "breach of privacy," while others thought it was essential for kids' safety. But Savannah? She's team "snooping" all the way.

She confessed to 'snooping' on her daughter's phone

"I don't like the word 'snooping'," Savannah confessed, "but I think 'looking' is a much nicer way to put it." And looking she does - very closely, at that. When her 11-year-old daughter Vale got her own iCloud account, Savannah didn't just take a peek; she drafted a contract for Vale to sign. The contract? A sweet yet stern reminder that Mommy and Daddy love her more than anything in the world, but they also keep an eye on what she's doing online.

"It was basically like, 'I know you love me more than anything, Vale, so I know you won't put anything in a text message that you wouldn't want Grandma and Grandpa to see,'" Savannah explained. "And if it makes it onto the front page of The New York Times? Well, let's just say we'll be having a long talk about that."

Jenna couldn't help but chuckle at the thought of her own 12-year-old daughter Mila not needing a phone - instead, she gives out Mom's phone number to her friends. "What is happening?" Jenna joked. "I'm getting Gigi's FaceTimes!"

Savannah said that her kids are young, so she's not sure what the electronic situation will be like when they're older, but right now, she seems to run a pretty tight ship

But Savannah isn't just a proud mom; she's also an open book about motherhood. In a 2019 interview with People, she shared that becoming a mom later in life was a blessing in disguise. "When we found out we were pregnant," she gushed, "I don't think there were two happier people on this planet." And at 53? She's got the wisdom and patience to enjoy every moment of motherhood.

"I always wanted to be a mom," Savannah explained, "and it took us so long to get married that we thought maybe it was too late. But when we finally did get pregnant, I felt like I could really take my time with our kids." And by "take her time," she means not feeling the intense pressure of raising young children while trying to establish a career.

"I'm definitely more relaxed than I would have been in my 20s or 30s," Savannah said. "I feel calm, and I can prioritize - which is luxury enough for most people." And as a result? She's able to enjoy every moment with her kids, Vale (11) and Charley (9).

In the past, Savannah has been quite open about motherhood, explaining in a 2019 interview that becoming a mother later in life enabled her to feel like she could really 'take her time'

Savannah's parenting secrets are out of the bag now, but we're not complaining. Who wouldn't want a mom like Savannah Guthrie? The 53-year-old journalist has got this whole "being a cool mom" thing down pat.

The 53-year-old journalist and her husband Michael Feldman, 56, had their daughter, Vale in 2014 and their second child, Charley in 2016 when Savannah was in her mid-40s
