Ryan Reynolds Skips Wife Mention Amidst Backlash: A Peek Into His Latest Talk

Ryan Reynolds kept tight-lipped about wife Blake Lively at his latest public speaking engagement this week - two weeks after he insulted her onstage (pictured on October 5 in Chicago)

Ryan Reynolds' 'Fk You' Comment to Blake Lively Sparks Backlash and Raises Questions About Their Marriage**

In a shocking display of marital tension, Ryan Reynolds seemed to downplay his infamous "f**k you" comment to wife Blake Lively during a recent speaking engagement at the Kings Theatre in Brooklyn, New York. The Deadpool star, 48, has been making headlines for weeks after revealing that he swore at his actress wife, 38, when she tried to interrupt him while he was on the phone with Bill Murray.

The Saga Begins

The actor dropped a bombshell during his last appearance on September 25, in which he revealed he had shouted at his wife, 'F**k you!' as he tried to speak to Bill Murray - Lively pictured with Reynolds in April

It all started two weeks ago when Reynolds shared a story about trying to get the Hollywood icon Bill Murray to participate in his documentary, John Candy: I Like Me. In an attempt to reenact the moment, Reynolds whispered into the microphone, "She goes, 'We have to go in!'" before blurting out a rather... colorful... comment.

The Re-Enacted Version

However, during his speaking engagement on Wednesday, Reynolds seemed to take a more sanitized approach, leaving out any mention of his wife. He told an edited version of the story, focusing on how he tried to reach Murray for over 40 messages before eventually getting a call back. Reynolds even joked about receiving a voicemail from a Greek shipping company and sending a "desperate hostage video" featuring his two young children.

On September 25, Ryan shared with an audience in New Jersey, 'I'm there with my wife and we're about to walk in and my phone buzzes, and I look at it. It says Bill Murray... '[Blake] goes,

The Kids Save the Day

Reynolds' kids, James (10), Inez (8), Betty (5), and Olin (2), seem to be the ones who ultimately won over Murray. The Canadian actor recalled how he pleaded with Murray not to say no to a child like his daughter, saying, "I don't know what kind of monster you have to be to say no to a child like that." Just seconds later, Murray texted Reynolds back, asking what he needed from him.

The Real Story Behind the Drama

Bill Murray is one of the A-list actors who appears in Ryan's upcoming documentary, John Candy: I Like Me, which is available to stream on October 10

But what's really going on behind closed doors? Sources close to the couple claim that their 13-year marriage has been under strain due to ongoing legal proceedings involving Lively's co-star and director Justin Baldoni. In December 2024, Lively sued Baldoni for sexual harassment and accused him of orchestrating a smear campaign against her.

The Backlash

Reynolds' "f*k you" comment didn't sit well with fans, who took to social media to express their disappointment. One fan commented, "My husband would never tell me fck you, we do not speak that way to each other." Another wrote, "Ugh. Cancel him already!" The couple's marriage has been under scrutiny for months, and it seems like Reynolds' comments have only added fuel to the fire.

Ryan's best friend Hugh Jackman attended the Q&A on Wednesday. The Wolverine star entered the stage wearing a band-aid on his face (pictured)

The Ongoing Saga

Lively's lawsuit against Baldoni is still ongoing, with a trial scheduled for March 2026. Despite not being named as a plaintiff in the case, Reynolds has been actively supporting his wife throughout the proceedings. The couple shares four children together and seems to be navigating the ups and downs of marriage while dealing with the drama surrounding Lively's lawsuit.

The Release Date

In other news, John Candy: I Like Me, the documentary featuring interviews with Martin Short, Steve Martin, Macaulay Culkin, Tom Hanks, Andrea Martin, Eugene Levy, Catherine O'Hara, and Conan O'Brien, will be released exclusively on Amazon Prime Video on October 10.

As for Reynolds' speaking engagement, it seems like he's still trying to make light of the situation. However, the drama surrounding his marriage and Lively's lawsuit continues to unfold. Will this couple ever get their happily-ever-after? Only time will tell!

Ryan praised Hugh, saying, 'm very proud and very lucky and actually honored to be able to call this person a friend of mine for 17, maybe 18 years' (pictured together in July 2024)
