Royal Love Meets the Supernatural: Princess Martha Louise's 'Woo-Woo' Wedding
NETFLIX EXPOSES ROYAL ROMANCE OF THE CENTURY: PRINCESS MARTHA LOUISE AND HER "HALF-REPTILIAN" SHAMAN HUSBAND
Get ready for a whirlwind romance that's about to blow the lid off the royal family! Netflix has just dropped the trailer for its upcoming documentary, Rebel Royals: An Unlikely Love Story, and it's giving us major drama. The film chronicles the unconventional love story between Princess Martha Louise of Norway and her husband, Durek Verrett - a self-proclaimed "shaman" with a questionable past.
Meet Princess Martha Louise, the 51-year-old daughter of King Harald and Queen Sonja of Norway. She's a rebel at heart, having relinquished her royal duties in 2022 to pursue a life of spiritual exploration and entrepreneurship. And then there's Durek Verrett - a 50-year-old "shaman" with a flair for the dramatic and a history of controversy.
The couple met through mutual friends in 2019 and quickly fell into a whirlwind romance. But what sets their relationship apart is their shared claim that they knew each other in past lives, specifically during ancient Egypt. Yes, you read that right - they believe they're reincarnated soulmates!
In an exclusive trailer for the documentary, Durek reveals his unconventional views on love and relationships. "As far as I'm concerned, it doesn't matter if it's a male or female, or it could be another being from another planet," he says with a cheeky grin. But things take a dark turn when he reveals that he thinks he might have been reincarnated as a reptile in his past life.
The couple's wedding last year was a lavish affair, complete with a gospel choir and a medallion-wearing Shaman Verrett. Guests told Norwegian media outlets that it was "Hollywood meets Geiranger" - a fairytale come true for the eccentric royal couple.
But don't get too comfortable, folks - this is where things start to get juicy. Durek's past is riddled with controversy, from being arrested multiple times to claiming he died and came back to life (renal failure, anyone?). He's also been accused of making pseudoscientific claims about childhood cancer being caused by unhappiness.
And if that weren't enough, his fiancé Hank Greenberg was left traumatized after Durek attacked him at their California home in 2015. "He's not a good man," Greenberg would later claim.
But Princess Martha Louise seems smitten with her half-reptilian husband. In an interview with the BBC last year, she gushed about how her parents, King Harald and Queen Sonja, have always been supportive of their unconventional lifestyle choices. "They're very loved in Norway, and I think it's because they're a very loving family," she said.
But not everyone is buying it. Durek has faced criticism for his claims of being a "third and sixth generation shaman" - with many questioning the validity of such titles. And let's not forget his infamous claim that he's HIV positive (which was later denied by his own mother).
So, what does this mean for the royal family? Will Princess Martha Louise's decision to marry Durek Verrett be seen as a blessing or a curse? One thing's for sure - their love story is about to get a whole lot more attention.
Rebel Royals: An Unlikely Love Story drops on Netflix September 16, and we can't wait to see what drama unfolds. Will the royal couple prove that love knows no bounds - not even those of royalty or rationality? Stay tuned for more updates from The Scholarly Note!
