Roseanne Barr's Bizarre 'Bribe' Story: Reuniting with Daughter After Decades

Roseanne Barr opens up about one of the most personal chapters of her life in her new documentary Roseanne Is America: reuniting with the daughter she placed for adoption as a teenager

ROSEANNE BARR REVEALS HER MOST PERSONAL AND SHOCKING SECRETS

In a jaw-dropping new documentary, Roseanne Barr opens up about one of the most tumultuous chapters of her life - the birth and adoption of her first child, Brandi Brown. The comedian's explosive revelations will leave you speechless as she recounts the circumstances surrounding her daughter's conception, adoption, and eventual reunion.

In 1971, at just 18 years old, Roseanne found herself in a Salvation Army Home for Unwed Mothers in Denver, where she gave birth to a baby girl named Brandi. But what happened next is nothing short of shocking. As Roseanne reveals, the National Enquirer tracked down her daughter using questionable means - bribing someone in records in Colorado for her name, her adoptive parents' name, and ultimately discovering Brandi's identity.

"I was young and stupid," Roseanne admits candidly. "But I made a promise to my baby girl that I'd see her again when she turned 18, and I'd be famous." Little did she know, that prediction would come true in spectacular fashion. As the years went by, Roseanne's star rose, and with it, her daughter was finally found.

Roseanne's documentary, Roseanne Is America, sheds light on the complexities of her family dynamics, particularly regarding her first pregnancy. "Mom didn't want the neighbors to be ashamed of her," she claims. But what's even more astonishing is Roseanne's take on her family's reputation: "They were all drunks and perverts." You can almost hear her snickering in amusement.

The comedian also shares a heartwarming moment with her daughter Brandi, now 52 years old. In 2024, she posted a rare photo of the pair on Instagram, sporting matching "Love" shirts and knit beanies. The caption read: "My oldest bb." It's clear that Roseanne has made amends with her past.

According to Barr, it was her rise to fame that prompted the National Enquirer to track down her daughter—using questionable means to obtain the information; (Roseanne (C) and children Jake Pentland (L) and Brandi Brown)

The reunion between mother and daughter was nothing short of miraculous. According to Roseanne, Brandi jumped out of her seat when they finally met again at the age of 17. They hugged each other tightly, tears streaming down their faces as they reconnected. "We looked at each other," Roseanne recalled in a 1989 People interview. "It was like no time had passed at all."

Brandi Brown is now a leader in the 1 Billion Acts of Peace Campaign, encouraging people worldwide to log actions promoting peace and compassion. On Mother's Day, she posted photos with both her adoptive mother, Gail Brown, and Roseanne herself. The caption read: "The amazing women who helped shape me."

But what about Roseanne's other children? She has Jessica (50), Jennifer (49), Jake (47) - all from her marriage to Pentland - and Buck (30), whom she shares with Tom Arnold.

'It all came out because when I got famous, the National Enquirer found my daughter by bribing someone in records in Colorado for my name, her name and her adoptive parents’ name,' she says in the documentary; (Roseanne and Brandi seen in 2018)

Now, you might be thinking, "What's the tea on Roseanne's infamous Twitter controversy?" Well, let's dive right in. In 2018, a shocking tweet from Roseanne about Valerie Jarrett sparked outrage and led to the cancellation of her show Roseanne (later rebranded as The Conners, sans Roseanne). The comedian claimed she was under the influence of alcohol and Ambien when she posted the Tweet.

In an explosive interview with Variety, Roseanne revealed that God allegedly told her to write the tweet. "It was a nuclear bomb," she quipped. When asked about the controversy, Roseanne insisted: "God woke me up." She even went so far as to claim that she didn't mean any harm and that people misinterpreted her words.

Roseanne continued to defend herself by saying that Valerie Jarrett is not who she claims to be - a Black woman involved in Obama's 2015 Iran nuclear deal. According to Roseanne, "Planet of the Apes" (a movie she referenced) isn't about racism but fascism, as per Rod Serling himself.

Despite the controversy surrounding her Roseanne reboot cancellation and subsequent spin-off, it seems Roseanne has moved on. But will her latest revelations spark another media frenzy? Only time will tell.

In any case, one thing's for sure: Roseanne Is America, the documentary where these jaw-dropping secrets are revealed, is a must-watch.

The original Roseanne show debuted on October 18, 1988
