Rory McIlroy's Wife Stands Out: Ryder Cup WAGs Dominate Day One Fashion

Ryder Cup Drama: WAGs Wow with Matching Outfits, But Team USA's Sartorial Choices Raise Eyebrows

The highly anticipated Ryder Cup has finally arrived on Long Island, and with it, the drama, excitement, and of course, the fashion. The wives and girlfriends of Team USA and Team Europe flocked to Bethpage Black to support their significant others, and let's just say, they did not disappoint.

As the morning foursomes got underway, it was clear that Team Europe was ready to take on the day. Led by Rory McIlroy and his stunning wife Erica Stoll, who wore a sizzling straw-colored hat and blouse combo complete with golf jewelry that sparkled like diamonds (we're talking about the Patek Philippe Nautilus watch, folks!), the European squad looked every bit as fierce as their competitors.

But it was Luke Donald's wife Diane who stole the show. The Team Europe "First Lady" rocked a blue blazer paired with a crisp white blouse and shorts that left everyone green with envy (pun intended). And let's not forget Kelley Cahill, Jon Rahm's wife, who looked every bit as stylish as her husband on and off the course.

Meanwhile, Team USA's WAGs opted for a more coordinated approach. Donning navy Polo brand shirts emblazoned with the letters "USA" on the right and an American flag over the heart, they exuded team spirit. But some fans might have raised an eyebrow at their decision to pair these stylish tops with... white trousers? A few brave souls even opted for navy hats with the American flag on them.

But wait, there's more! The evening before, the couples attended a gala at Sands Point on Long Island's north shore, and let's just say, Team Europe brought their A-game. Dressed in tailored suits, striped shirts, ties, and black dress shoes, they looked like they just stepped off the catwalk.

Team USA, on the other hand, showed up in matching suits – but with a twist. They ditched the ties and opted for white leather sneakers instead of traditional golf shoes. The internet had a field day, with fans blasting their choice as a fashion faux pas.

"It's like they raided a 90s time capsule," one Twitter user quipped. "Who thought white sneakers were a good idea?" another asked.

But the drama didn't stop there. On the course, Team Europe continued their winning streak from last year's Marco Simone Golf Club in Rome, dominating three of four foursome matches.

The American WAGs (seen here, Meredith Scheffler) coordinated their outfits to support them

Xander Schauffele and Patrick Cantlay proved to be the only American duo to emerge victorious, defeating Robert MacIntyre and Viktor Hovland 2-Up. But it was a tough morning for the rest of Team USA: Scottie Scheffler and Russell Henley lost 5&3 to Ludvig Aberg and Matt Fitzpatrick; Collin Morikawa and Harris English went down 5&4 to Rory McIlroy and Tommy Fleetwood; and Bryson DeChambeau and Justin Thomas struggled against Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton, losing 4&3.

As the battle for golf supremacy rages on, one thing is clear: these WAGs have got game. Who will come out on top? Only time (and a few more fashion faux pas) will tell.
