Robin Wright: Finding Freedom and Love in England
ROBIN WRIGHT CALLS AMERICA A "S SHOW" - THE ACTRESS FLEES TO ENGLAND FOR LOVE, FREEDOM, AND A SWEETHEART*
In a shocking revelation, Oscar-nominated actress Robin Wright has slammed America as a "s* show" and revealed that she's abandoned the States for a simpler life in England with her new British-born Australian beau, Henry Smith. The Texan-born, Cali-raised 59-year-old beauty has finally found love, freedom, and peace in the charming countryside of England.
"I'm so done with America," Wright declared to The Sunday Times on Saturday, exasperated by the fast-paced, competitive lifestyle that seemed to be suffocating her. "I love being here. There's a freedom of self that I've never experienced before. People are kind, living in the moment, and not constantly glued to their phones or stuck in traffic."
Wright revealed that her breaking point came when she was awoken by the sound of her LA neighbors' home renovations. "Everyone's building massive houses, and I'm just done with it all," she confessed. "I love the quiet, the peace, and the serenity of this country." And it seems that Wright has found not only a peaceful haven but also her perfect match in Henry.
The couple's whirlwind romance began at a Chilterns pub, where they locked eyes and sparks flew. "Henry was standing at the bar, 6ft2in, and he put his pint down, came over to me, and grabbed my shoulders," Wright recalled with a giggle. "He goes, 'Who the f* are you?' And I said, 'Who the f* are you?' And that was it - game over!" The two quickly bonded during their five-month COVID-19 battles and now plan on moving to a rented home in the English seaside with their adorable Labradors, Rusty and Rocky.
As Wright prepares to celebrate her 60th birthday this year, she's finally found what she's been searching for: love. "I've had some amazing relationships, but I never thought I'd find someone who truly understands me," she gushed about Henry. "He's a sweetheart, just a good, decent adult - a man, through and through."
The actress also opened up about her previous marriages, including her high-profile union with Sean Penn, with whom she has two children, Dylan (34) and Hopper (32). Wright was previously married to Dane Witherspoon (1986-1988) and Clément Giraudet (2018-2022), but it seems that she's found her forever love in Henry.
When asked if she'd be tying the knot for a fourth time, Wright shot down the idea: "No way. I'm 60 years old, and I've had enough of marriage. Why do people need to get married? It's just unnecessary." However, it seems that Wright has found a new lease on life with Henry, and she's eager to explore the world with her new partner.
But Wright is still navigating the complexities of England's class system - or rather, trying not to understand it at all. "Why are you guys so obsessed with who went to which boarding school or university?" she asked with a laugh. "Who cares? It's just a bunch of nonsense."
Wright is currently starring in and executive producing Amazon Prime Video's psychological thriller The Girlfriend, which premieres on September 10. The six-episode series sees Wright play a suspicious, overprotective mother locked in a tug-of-war with her ex-partner. "It's about two women fighting over the same love," she described of the show. "I felt like that with some girls my son brought home - it didn't work out, thank God! You always have that intrinsic mummy radar."
As Wright continues to enjoy her new life in England with Henry, fans can catch her on-screen in The Girlfriend and witness her transition from Hollywood starlet to happy homemaker.
