Robert Griffin III Survives 'Scary' Car Crash with Family: Shocking Photos Emerge!
ROBERT GRIFFIN III AND FAMILY IN HORRIFIC CAR CRASH - BUT THANKFULLY, ALL ARE SAFE
In a terrifying turn of events, former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III and his family were involved in a harrowing car accident on Friday that left their Mercedes-Benz Sprinter severely damaged. But in a miraculous twist, the entire family emerged from the crash with only minor injuries.
Griffin, who played for three different teams during his nine-year NFL career - including the Washington Redskins, Cleveland Browns, and Baltimore Ravens - took to social media to share the terrifying photos from the scene of the accident. "Just got in the worst car accident of our lives with my wife and kids in Fort Worth, Texas," he wrote, still shaken by the experience.
The crash occurred when Griffin was driving his family home after a day out, with his wife Grete and their three daughters - Gia, 2, Gameya, 5, and Gloria, 8 - all buckled up and safe inside. However, their ordeal only began to unfold when their vehicle was struck by another car on the highway.
According to eyewitnesses, Griffin's Mercedes-Benz Sprinter ricocheted off the highway divider multiple times before coming to a stop. The other vehicle fared much worse, with its front bumper and hood completely destroyed in the crash. Miraculously, everyone involved managed to walk away from the wreckage without serious injury - although Grete did hit her head and will undergo a CT scan as a precaution.
In a separate Instagram post, Grete confirmed that "everyone in that car is alive and well." The family's ordeal was only amplified by their harrowing experience earlier this year when they became embroiled in an astonishing feud with former NFL defensive back Ryan Clark. Clark sparked outrage after making an insulting comment about the Griffin's interracial marriage, claiming that Robert didn't truly understand the struggles of black women because he was married to a white woman.
However, in a surprise move, Clark apologized to his former teammate and his family for his thoughtless comments just days later. It seemed that Grete had taken issue with Clark's initial remarks, posting a video on TikTok that appeared to mock him after Griffin pretended to hold her back as she attempted to attack someone in the video.
But it was when Robert joined ESPN in 2021 after his NFL career came to an end that things got really juicy. The network fought off interest from Fox Sports, who were desperate to sign him after he wowed them with a standout audition. Griffin spent three years working on ESPN's 'Monday Night Countdown' show alongside Jason Witten before being replaced by none other than Jason Kelce in the 2024 offseason.
Grete was overheard voicing her displeasure at her husband's exit from ESPN, posting "Onto bigger and better things" on social media after his departure last year. And it seemed that she wasn't far off - with Robert now free to pursue even more exciting opportunities.
As for Grete and the family, they're just grateful to have made it out of the car crash unscathed. In a statement posted to their joint TikTok account, the Griffins shared: "Say it with yo chest!!! Laughter emoji." It was clear that despite the terrifying ordeal they had just faced, the family was more concerned about dishing out some good-natured humor than dwelling on their close call.
