Queen Mary's Royal Run: Athletic Elegance vs. Fashion Faux Pas

QUEEN MARY'S STYLE SHOCKER: WHEN ROYAL FASHION GOES TERRIBLY WRONG

In a rare moment of fashion misstep, Queen Mary of Denmark turned heads at the Global Fashion Summit in Copenhagen last week - and not for the right reasons. The normally stylish monarch's choice of outfit was met with scathing criticism from style watchers, who dubbed it a "rare miss" that even her usual flair for chic couldn't salvage.

The 53-year-old Queen, known for her effortless elegance, opted for a bold fashion statement in grey Bermuda shorts and a matching blazer designed by Copenhagen-based fashion house Mark Kenly Domino Tan. But what could have been a daring look turned out to be a disaster, with eagle-eyed commentators pointing out the outfit's numerous flaws.

The Australian-born royal took part in the 2025 Royal Run in Korsoer, Denmark and was looking fit and fabulous

First and foremost, the grey culottes were universally panned for their unflattering cut, colour, and mid-leg length. One commentator quipped that Queen Mary should "burn the culottes" and give the jacket another chance with something else. Another lamented that even though she can wear just about anything, it doesn't mean she should.

But it wasn't just the pants that were the problem - the wrinkles in the material were also a major issue. One style watcher opined that "not one of her finest choices" and pointed out the obvious creases in the fabric. Another commenter claimed to be a textiles salesperson, who blamed the actual suit's material for "wrinkling horribly no matter how long you iron it before wearing it".

And if that wasn't enough, the outfit's styling and accessorizing were also criticized. The chunky light brown and white belt was seen as a fashion faux pas, with one commentator opining that "the proportions of the shorts and stilettos don't work" and another adding that it looked like Queen Mary had "got it out of the laundry basket".

The 53-year-old donned a fitted Adidas top with long sleeves and in a navy blue tone

But what's even more shocking is that this wasn't the first time Queen Mary has worn the same outfit. She was seen in the exact same blazer and pants during a state visit to Paris in April, where she received praise for her chic look. So why did the outfit go awry this time?

It seems like Queen Mary's usually impeccable fashion sense may have been off on this particular occasion. But don't worry, folks - we won't be too hard on her. After all, even royals are allowed to make mistakes (but maybe next time she'll think twice before repeating an outfit).

A STYLE SINNER IN THE MAKING?

Also taking part was Mary's husband Denmark's King Frederik and their sons, Prince Vincent and Prince Christian (all pictured)

Queen Mary's fashion misstep has left many wondering if the usually-stylish royal is losing her touch. But what do you think - was it a rare moment of bad taste or just a case of style gone wrong?

In related news, Queen Mary was also seen participating in the 2025 Royal Run in Korsoer, Denmark, where she looked fit and fabulous in a fitted Adidas top with long sleeves and dark shorts. But more on that later...

THE ROYAL FAMILY'S FASHION FORAY

In a surprising twist, Queen Mary wasn't the only royal family member who took part in the Royal Run. Her husband, King Frederik, and their sons, Prince Vincent and Prince Christian, also joined in on the fun.

But what's even more interesting is that the Royal Run is part of a larger campaign to make Denmark "the most physically active nation in the world". It seems like the royal family is taking fitness seriously - but will they be able to keep up with their fashion sense?
