Punk Pandemonium: Sex Pistols Cancel Tour After Steve Jones' Gruesome Injury

Iconic punk band The Sex Pistols have been forced to cancel their upcoming tour due to an injury from one of the main members

SEX PISTOLS SHOCKER: Iconic Punk Band Cancels Tour Amid Wrist Injury, Feud with Johnny Rotten Heats Up!

The Sex Pistols, one of the most influential and notorious punk bands in history, has been forced to cancel its highly anticipated North American tour due to a wrist injury suffered by original guitarist Steve Jones. The news comes as a major blow to fans who had been eagerly anticipating the band's return to the stage.

Jones, 70, broke the news on social media, sharing a tongue-in-cheek post that hinted at his good-natured personality despite the unfortunate circumstances. "I've got some good news and bad news," he wrote. "What do you want first? Okay, the bad news: I've broken my wrist, so unfortunately we won't be doing any shows for a while." He added a dash of humor to the post by declaring that his birthday was just around the corner – and what better gift could he ask for than getting back on stage with his iconic band?

Original guitarist Steve Jones (pictured in London in March) broke the news on social media Tuesday that he had broken his wrist and the band would need to postpone the concerts

The Sex Pistols' upcoming tour was set to kick off in Dallas on September 16, with original members Steve Jones and Glen Matlock joining forces once again. However, with Jones sidelined due to his wrist injury, the performances will be postponed until he's fully recovered.

But that's not all – the news comes amidst an ongoing feud between the band and their infamous frontman Johnny Rotten (aka John Lydon). In a shocking turn of events, singer Frank Carter, who took over as the new face of the Sex Pistols, recently revealed in an interview that he "hates" Oasis' music. The move has sparked outrage among fans, with some even calling for Carter's departure from the band.

Carter's musical background is no secret – he began his career as the frontman for British hardcore bands Gallows and Pure Love before forming Frank Carter and the Rattlesnakes. However, taking on the role of Johnny Rotten in the Sex Pistols has proven to be a daunting task, with some fans criticizing his performance.

But what's even more juicy is the ongoing feud between the band members and their former frontman Johnny Rotten. In 2022, Lydon publicly slammed the Danny Boyle-directed series "Pistol," which was based on Jones' memoir Lonely Boy: Tales From A Sex Pistol. Lydon accused the show of perpetuating historical inaccuracies and claimed that it made him look like a "monster."

Jones shot back at Lydon's remarks, urging him to "grow up and move on." In an interview with The Sun (thescholarlynote.com), Jones said: "You've just got to grow up and move on. The show is about me, it ain't about John, even though he is obviously a big part of it."

The feud between the band members and Lydon has been ongoing for years – in 2022, they were embroiled in a High Court battle with him over the use of their songs in the TV series. After losing the case, Lydon went on to brand his former bandmates "greedy," "nasty," and "evil," claiming that the court battle had financially "ruined" him.

No stranger to the stage, Carter, pictured left with Sex Pistols guitarist Steve Jones in September 2024, began his musical career as the frontman for British hardcore band Gallows  followed by Pure Love and Frank Carter and the Rattlesnakes

The Sex Pistols were formed in 1975 as one of the first British punk groups, but disbanded in 1978. However, they have reunited several times over the years for live shows, including the Filthy Lucre tour in 1996 and performances at festivals such as Azkena Rock Festival in 2008.

With their latest tour canceled due to Jones' injury, fans are left wondering when – or if – the Sex Pistols will return to the stage. Will Lydon's feud with his former bandmates continue to simmer, or will they eventually put their differences aside? Only time will tell, but one thing is certain: the Sex Pistols are a force to be reckoned with, and their music will live on despite any personal dramas.
