Princess Diana's Legacy: Netflix Eyes New Documentary with Harry & Meghan

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are lining up a documentary about Princess Diana as part of their new 'first look deal' with Netflix,  it has been reported

SHOCKING TWIST: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Line Up Explosive Documentary on Princess Diana's Life

In a bombshell move, Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle are reportedly cooking up a new documentary that would delve into the life of the late Princess Diana, just as it marks 30 years since her tragic death in a car crash. According to insiders, the couple has been in talks with Netflix about producing a show that would coincide with the anniversary of her passing.

This news comes hot on the heels of Harry and Meghan announcing their renewed contract with Netflix earlier this month, which was due to expire later this year. The power couple has been busy lining up a slew of projects for the streaming giant, including a second season of Meghan's lifestyle show "With Love, Meghan," as well as a Christmas special in December.

Princess Diana is seen visiting New York in December 1995. She was killed in a car crash two years later

But what really got our attention is the rumor mill buzzing around a potential 2027 documentary on Princess Diana. Insiders claim that Prince Harry, who was just 12 when his mother died, has been toying with the idea of sharing intimate stories about her life and legacy. This would be a ratings goldmine for Netflix, which has yet to match the success it had with the couple's six-part documentary "Harry & Meghan."

Industry sources close to the project spilled the beans: "If Harry wants to do it then Netflix will bite his hand off." It's no secret that Prince Harry has been open about the deep impact his mother's death had on him. In his memoir "Spare," he shared the traumatic experience of walking behind her coffin and breaking down after hearing the devastating news from his father.

But what might be even more juicy is the fact that this wouldn't be Prince Harry's first foray into documentaries about his mother. He's already appeared in two previous projects, "Diana, Our Mother: Her Life and Legacy" and "Diana, 7 Days," which were huge ratings hits. The question on everyone's mind is whether he'll share new, never-before-seen footage or insights that could shake up the royal family dynamics.

The renewed Netflix deal for Harry and Meghan has been met with a mixed reaction from industry insiders. While some hail it as an "extending their creative partnership" through Archewell Productions, others believe it's a watered-down version of their previous contract, which was reportedly worth $100million (£74million). Mark Borkowski, a leading publicist, weighed in: "They have shot the golden goose of 2020 - more of a 'we'll call you' than 'here's the chequebook.'"

However, Meghan had other words to share when announcing their renewed partnership with Netflix last week. She declared: "We're proud to extend our partnership with Netflix and expand our work together to include the As Ever brand." But don't be fooled – insiders claim that this new deal is more of a "first-look" arrangement, where Netflix gets dibs but no obligation to bankroll every project.

Bela Bajaria, Netflix's chief content officer, said in a statement: "Harry and Meghan are influential voices whose stories resonate with audiences everywhere. The response to their work speaks for itself - Harry & Meghan gave viewers an intimate look into their lives and quickly became one of our most-watched documentary series."

So, what's next for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle? Will this new documentary about Princess Diana be a ratings sensation or another underwhelming project? Only time will tell. One thing is certain – we can't wait to see what the power couple has in store for us next!
