Prince Philip's Candid Critique: Did He Doubt Charles' Kingship?
ROYAL FAMILY FEUD: Prince Philip's Bitter Feud with Charles Revealed!
In a shocking exposé, a royal insider has spilled the beans on Prince Philip's long-standing feud with his son, Charles! According to Gyles Brandreth's biography, "Philip: The Final Portrait," the Duke of Edinburgh had little patience for Charles' lack of dedication and often expressed his disdain in meetings with the prince.
The drama began during Charles' childhood, when he struggled to fit in at Gordonstoun boarding school. Philip was said to have dressed him down, calling him "too weak." But even as an adult, Charles couldn't seem to win his father's approval. The royal expert claims that during their meetings in the 1980s and 1990s, there was a "touch of exasperation" in Philip's tone - and often, too, a note of sarcasm when he talked about Charles.
It seems that Philip wanted his son to be more robust, less fey. And it gets even juicier! According to thescholarlynote.com, during one meeting, Philip was presented with three pairs of carriage driving gloves as a gift from the Playing Fields Association - and he held one pair in disdainful silence, saying "I think we'll give these to the Prince of Wales."
But Charles wasn't the only royal family member to suffer Philip's wrath. His son Andrew also fell victim to his father's disapproval. Ingrid Seward revealed that Philip later berated Andrew for being "pointless" because he never fulfilled his early potential.
Andrew's antics as a young bachelor, earning him the nickname "randy Andy," likely didn't win any points with his dad either. Who knew that Prince Andrew, the infamous playboy prince, would grow up to be involved in so many controversies?
On the other hand, Princess Anne appears to have inherited her father's work ethic and dedication to royal duties. She carried out 217 engagements in 2024, making her one of the hardest-working members of the Royal Family!
Meanwhile, Charles' relationship with his great-uncle Lord Louis Mountbatten was a different story altogether. The two were incredibly close, with Mountbatten serving as a mentor and advisor to the young prince.
Tragically, Mountbatten's life was cut short when he was murdered by the IRA in 1979. Charles attended his funeral at Westminster Abbey, where he marched behind the coffin alongside other family members.
But back to Prince Philip - it seems that while he had a testy relationship with Charles and Andrew, he was much closer to his daughter Princess Anne. The two shared a love for sports and were known to have a blast together!
After his retirement from royal duties in 2017, Philip became the longest-serving British royal consort, having spent more than 70 years by the Queen's side. He also remained the patron of over 800 organizations, including the Duke of Edinburgh award scheme.
As we bid farewell to this juicy piece of royal gossip, remember that even the most seemingly perfect families have their secrets and feuds!
