Phil Collins Clears Up Viral Rumors: Not in Hospice, Just Undergoing Knee Surgery!
PHIL COLLINS SHUTS DOWN HOPELESS RUMORS!
In a shocking turn of events, Phil Collins has finally put an end to the worrisome whispers circulating around his health. Despite fans and onlookers bracing themselves for the worst-case scenario, the 74-year-old former Genesis drummer has been cleared by his rep as being NOWHERE NEAR DEATH!
The Grammy-winning musician is actually in the hospital, undergoing knee surgery - a far cry from the grim prognosis that had everyone on high alert. Concerned fans took to social media earlier this week, sharing their heartfelt fears and worries about Phil's well-being. But, thankfully, it appears their worst fears have been alleviated.
So, what led to all the commotion? Well, as you may know, Phil Collins has been dealing with a slew of health issues for quite some time now. He's been open about his struggles with type 2 diabetes and complications stemming from a spine injury he suffered nearly two decades ago. The injury, which was caused by years of drumming in an awkward position, left him unable to even hold drumsticks without feeling immense pain. In fact, at one point, he resorted to taping the sticks to his hands just to get through performances!
It's no wonder then that Phil announced earlier this year that he'd be hanging up his drumsticks for good, citing a lack of enthusiasm for music-making. "I keep thinking I should go downstairs to the studio and see what happens," he told MOJO magazine in an interview, "But I'm not hungry for it anymore. The thing is, I've been sick. I mean very sick..."
While this was undoubtedly a tough pill to swallow for fans worldwide, Phil's music legacy lives on - with an impressive collection of eight Grammy awards, six Brit Awards, four Billboard Music Awards, three American Music Awards, two Golden Globes, and even an Oscar under his belt!
But what many might not know is that Phil's journey in the entertainment industry began long before he became a rock legend. At just 13 years old, he landed the role of the Artful Dodger in London's West End production of Oliver in 1964! This experience was instrumental in sparking his passion for music and ultimately led him to join Genesis as their drummer in 1970.
As you may recall, Phil took over as the band's frontman after Peter Gabriel left the group in August 1975. Together, they went on to create some of the most iconic albums in rock history - not to mention collecting a treasure trove of awards along the way!
Just days ago, Phil paid tribute to fellow music icon Ozzy Osbourne following his passing at age 76. He shared a heartwarming throwback photo of the two artists embracing, with a simple yet poignant caption: "In happier times, love always PC x."
Thanks to this latest update, fans can rest easy knowing that their beloved Phil Collins is receiving the care and attention he needs - and we couldn't be more relieved!
