Pete Davidson's New Detective Role Shocks Fans Post-Kim Kardashian Drama
Pete Davidson Heats Up Set of New Movie One Night Only Amidst Ongoing Drama with Ex-Kim Kardashian
The streets of New York City were abuzz on Thursday as Pete Davidson, 31, made his debut appearance on the set of his new movie, One Night Only. The Universal Pictures drama, directed by Will Gluck, sees Davidson take on a role as a detective - a surprise casting that has left fans and critics alike buzzing.
Davidson's costume for the film was a sharp departure from his usual laid-back style, featuring a full suit beneath a beige trench coat, black leather gloves, Oxfords, and an NYPD badge hung around his neck. The Staten Island native seemed fully immersed in character as he shot tense scenes with co-stars Callum Turner and Bobby Cannavale.
But the real drama isn't on set - it's off-screen where Davidson's personal life continues to make headlines. Just last month, the comedian faced backlash for performing at the Riyadh Comedy Festival, a move that sparked outrage given his connection to 9/11. Davidson's response? A sarcastic defense on Theo Von's This Past Weekend podcast.
"I've heard there are subreddits about 'I think all these people are in bed with that.' I just... you know, I get the routing, and then I see the number, and I go, 'I'll go,'" Davidson quipped. "I've been getting a little flak just because my dad died [in] 9/11. So they're like, 'How could you possibly go there?!'"
The controversy has been ongoing for months, with many questioning how the comedian could perform in Riyadh without acknowledging his connection to 9/11. The attack on the World Trade Center claimed the life of Davidson's firefighter father, Scott.
But what's even more juicy is the drama between Davidson and his ex-girlfriend, Kim Kardashian. Just last week, Kardashian reflected on their doomed nine-month romance on Call Her Daddy, citing the difficulties she faced dealing with her ex-husband Kanye West's feud with Davidson.
"There have been situations where I'll get maybe close to someone, then it's like, 'Wait, wait, wait, wait, I don't really want to deal with your ex. And I don't want to deal [with] if he's gonna say something,'" Kardashian lamented. "It has been a little frustrating but then I get really... my person wouldn't care about that, you know? But it is a big thing and I get it."
The 44-year-old reality star didn't mince words when discussing the music video for Kanye West's song EAZY, which depicted Davidson being kidnapped, decapitated, and buried alive.
"That made me feel really sad. That really wasn't fair for him," Kardashian said, her voice filled with emotion. "And I felt so sad and sorry for him and he was such a great man [who] was like, 'I got this, don't worry, it's all good.' Or at least acted that way."
Just last week, Davidson hit back through his friend Dave Sirus' Instagram account by posting private texts with West where he taunted the rapper with the message: "[I am] in bed with your wife." The comedian has since lasered off the many tattoos he got in honor of Kardashian, including all of her children's initials (K-NSCP) on his neck.
But it seems Davidson is ready to move on - and start a family. The comedian is currently "stoked" to be expecting his first child with girlfriend Elsie Hewitt, whom he only began dating in March.
"I'm so excited," Davidson gushed to Late Night host Seth Meyers in August. "I've never been more excited for anything. I'm just excited for that excuse I could use... 'Ah, the kid. I can't come out tonight. I'm sorry.'"
And it seems Hewitt is equally thrilled - despite struggling with morning sickness and a lack of appetite on social media.
"We were going to the movies and then I was like, 'I don't even think I can do it,'" Elsie said in a TikTok video. "I just feel so sick. I didn't eat enough today, I know that. But, like, my mouth does not want food. My stomach wants food even though it's [small and squished]. I just have no appetite at all whatsoever."
Davidson will next appear in Angus Wall's Eddie Murphy documentary Being Eddie, which premieres November 12 on Netflix. The comedian has several other projects in the works, including David Leitch's heist flick How to Rob a Bank, Doug Liman's bitcoin thriller Killing Satoshi, and David Michôd's long-delayed stoner comedy Wizards!.
As Davidson continues to navigate his personal and professional life, one thing is clear: this is one drama-filled year that won't be easily forgotten.
