Ozzy Osbourne's Final Curtain Call: The Tale of a Frail Rock Legend

Ozzy Osbourne's bassist has recalled Black Sabbath's final gig and admits the late rocker 'needed assistance' during rehearsals

OZZY'S FINAL SHOWDOWN: BASSIST SPEAKS OUT ON BLACK SABBATH'S LAST GIG AND ROCK LEGEND'S FADING LIGHT

In a shocking revelation, Geezer Butler, Ozzy Osbourne's long-time bassist and confidant, has spilled the beans on Black Sabbath's final gig, revealing that the Prince of Darkness was in dire need of assistance during rehearsals. This bombshell comes just weeks after the beloved musician passed away at the age of 76, leaving behind a legacy that will be remembered for generations to come.

The news of Ozzy's passing sent shockwaves around the world, with fans and fellow musicians alike mourning the loss of an iconic figure in rock music. But what many didn't know was that Ozzy had been struggling with his health for some time before his final show. Insurers reportedly warned him that they wouldn't cover the concert if he insisted on standing to bid farewell to his devoted fans. However, his wife Sharon Osbourne managed to negotiate a deal with providers to ensure the show went ahead as planned.

The beloved musician, famously known as the Prince of Darkness, died on Tuesday at the age of 76 - just weeks after performing his final show with the band (pictured right with his bandmates Geezer Butler and Tommy Iommi in 2013)

Despite Ozzy's frail state of health, Black Sabbath continued to rehearse and perfect their performance for what would be their last gig together. And what a finale it was! The band reunited with original members Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward (although Ward didn't perform due to health issues) at Villa Park Stadium in Ozzy's hometown of Birmingham, where they sold out in minutes.

The aptly-titled "Back to the Beginning" show saw over 42,000 fans pack into the stadium, eager to witness the legendary band's final performance. And witness it they did, as Ozzy and Black Sabbath delivered a showstopping set that left the crowd in awe. But behind the scenes, things were a different story.

Geezer has now spoken out about Ozzy's final moments, revealing how frail he was just days before his passing. "I knew he wasn't in good health, but I wasn't prepared to see how frail he was," Geezer said in an interview with The Times. "He was helped into the rehearsal room by two helpers and a nurse and was using a cane – being Ozzy, the cane was black and studded with gold and precious stones."

The music legend, nicknamed the Prince of Darkness, married his second wife Sharon, who helped him transform into a successful solo artist and the couple had three children together (pictured together in 2017)

Geezer also shared what he wished he had done before Ozzy's passing: spending more time backstage with his dear friend. As Ozzy would say, "Wish in one hand and s**t in the other and see which comes first." It's a poignant reminder of the bond between these two rock legends.

The farewell concert was an emotional affair, with Ozzy taking to the stage for what would be his last time. His final words on stage were: "It's the last song ever. Your support has enabled us to live an amazing lifestyle, thank you from the bottom of our hearts." A message on screen then read: "Thank you for everything, you guys are f*ing amazing. Birmingham Forever," before the sky lit up with fireworks.

In a tragic twist, paramedics were called to Ozzy's multi-million-pound country home in Welders House just days after the concert. An air ambulance was scrambled to the scene, landing in a field close to the singer's Grade II listed mansion at around 10:30 am on Tuesday morning.

According to reports, calls from Welders House led paramedics to believe that Ozzy's life was hanging in the balance. But despite their best efforts, they were unable to save him.

As fans and friends continue to mourn the loss of this rock icon, Geezer Butler's words serve as a poignant reminder of the bond between these two musical legends: "It's been one hell of a ride," he said, reflecting on their 56-year friendship. And what a ride it was indeed – one that will be remembered for generations to come.

The Scholarly Note

In related news, Ozzy Osbourne's final days have left many fans and fellow musicians wondering about the state of his health leading up to the concert. While we can't help but feel a sense of morbid curiosity, it's clear that Ozzy was struggling with his health for some time before his passing.

And what about those insurers who refused to cover the concert? Did they really think that Ozzy wouldn't go through with it? It seems like Sharon Osbourne was instrumental in negotiating a deal with providers to ensure the show went ahead as planned. We can only imagine the behind-the-scenes drama and negotiations that took place!

As we say goodbye to another rock legend, let's take a moment to reflect on the impact Ozzy had on music and our lives. He may be gone, but his legacy will live on forever – and what a legacy it is!
