Owen Cooper Makes History: Teen Wins Youngest Emmy for Supporting Actor

Owen Cooper made history as the youngest recipient of supporting actor award for his performance as Jamie Miller in Netflix's hit miniseries, Adolescence

EMMY SENSATIONS: TEEN SENSATION OWEN COOPER MAKES HISTORY AS YOUNGEST SUPPORTING ACTOR WINNER!

The 77th Primetime Emmy Awards were a night to remember, with many shocking wins and losses that left the audience gasping in surprise. But one young star stole the show, making history as the youngest supporting actor winner ever!

15-year-old Owen Cooper's groundbreaking performance as Jamie Miller in Netflix's miniseries "Adolescence" earned him the top prize for Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie. This achievement not only stunned the audience but also made him the youngest male winner of a primetime Emmy in the event's 77-year history.

His win comes after Adolescence was awarded its first Emmy of the night early into the 2025 ceremony

Owen's win is all the more impressive considering he's still just a teenager! The young actor was given a week off from his school at Warrington Secondary to attend the ceremony, and although he's been jetting around LA for the big night, he'll be back in class studying for his GCSE exams just 48 hours later.

In an interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Owen joked about his schoolmates' reaction to his fame. "They're not staying up until four in the morning," he said with a chuckle. "They wouldn't watch it anyway, to be fair. They've all watched [Adolescence], but they're not really bothered."

But despite his lighthearted comments, Owen's win is no laughing matter. He's an incredible talent who has proven himself as a standout performer in the industry.

The show's director Philip Barantini scooped the prize for Directing A Limited Series, Anthology Series or Movie

AIMEE LOU WOOD AND JASON ISAACS FALL SHORT

However, not all British stars had a night to remember at the Emmys. Aimee Lou Wood and Jason Isaacs, both nominated for their roles in The White Lotus, failed to take home any awards. Despite being favorites to win, they lost out on Outstanding Supporting Actress and Actor categories to Katherine LaNasa from The Pitt and Tramell Tillman from Severance.

Bella Ramsey, who played Ellie in The Last of Us, was also overlooked in the Best Actress category, while Sharon Horgan's series Bad Sisters didn't take home any major awards either.

THE WHITE LOTUS FALLS SHORT

The White Lotus, which scored 23 nominations this year, surprisingly failed to dominate the night. Despite its impressive nomination count, it took home only one award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for Tramell Tillman from Severance.

Britt Lower's win for Best Actress in a Drama Series was also a surprise, as many had predicted Sharon Horgan or even the talented Bella Ramsey to take home the prize.

OTHER WINNERS AND LOSERS

Other notable winners included:

  • The Traitors: Hosted by Alan Cumming, this reality show took home the award for Best Reality Competition Program.
  • Severance: This critically acclaimed series won three awards, including Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series and Best Actress in a Drama Series for Britt Lower.
  • Hacks: Jean Smart took home her third Emmy for Best Actress in a Comedy Series for her role as an aging comedian.

While co-star Jason, 62, who played Timothy Ratliff and famously went full frontal, was beaten in the Outstanding Supporting Actor Category by Severance star Tramell Tillman

But despite the many winners, there were also some shocking losses. The Penguin, which had 24 total nominations, failed to take home any major awards.

EMMY HISTORY MADE

Owen Cooper's win is a historic moment for the Emmys. As the youngest male winner of a primetime Emmy, he joins an elite group of talented actors who have achieved this feat in the past.
