Oscar Isaac: Ready to Return to Star Wars if 'Something Good' Arises

Oscar Isaac has revealed that he would be willing to return to the Star Wars universe 'if there was something good to do with that'

Oscar Isaac Spills the Tea on Star Wars: "I'd Be a Part of It Again If There Was Something Good to Do"

It's been a rollercoaster ride for the Star Wars franchise since Disney acquired Lucasfilm in 2012. The sequel trilogy, which concluded with The Rise of Skywalker in 2019, left fans divided and underwhelmed by its box office performance. But don't worry, die-hard Star Wars enthusiasts, because Oscar Isaac, the charming actor who played the dashing Poe Dameron, has revealed that he's willing to return to the galaxy far, far away... if there's something exciting on the horizon.

In a juicy interview with Variety, Isaac, 46, let slip that he'd jump back into the Star Wars universe if there was a compelling reason to do so. "I'm a Star Wars," he quipped, referencing a fan favorite line from The Simpsons. "But I'd be a Star Wars again if there was something good to do with that." Ouch, it looks like Disney's got some work to do to win Isaac back!

The news comes as a surprise, especially considering Isaac had previously expressed his desire to focus on smaller, independent projects after the lackluster reception of The Rise of Skywalker. In 2020, he told TheScholarlyNote.com that he was "probably" less likely to return to Star Wars, but would reconsider if he "needs another house." Guess that's code for "if there's a good script!"

Meanwhile, Isaac's star has been rising steadily in the film industry. He's co-starred with Jessica Chastain in the HBO remake of Ingmar Bergman's classic miniseries Scenes from a Marriage and has featured in larger tentpole movies like Dune: Part One. He even reprised his role as Gomez in the 2019 reboot of The Addams Family and its sequel, which was released two years later.

But what's really got fans buzzing is Isaac's latest project, The King of Kings, a Christian cartoon that boasts an all-star cast, including Kenneth Branagh, Uma Thurman, Pierce Brosnan, Forrest Whitaker, Ben Kingsley, and none other than his old Star Wars co-star Mark Hamill. Yep, you read that right – Luke Skywalker himself is part of the team!

Now Oscar, 46, has shared his own thoughts on Star Wars, in an interview with Euphoria heartthrob Jacob Elordi for Variety

And if you thought that was exciting enough, Isaac's next gig will be playing Victor Frankenstein in Guillermo Del Toro's upcoming movie adaptation of Mary Shelley's classic novel. The film premiered at the Venice International Film Festival last week and will be released on streaming via Netflix on November 7.

So, what's next for Star Wars? With Daisy Ridley set to reprise her role as Rey in an upcoming film (details are still under wraps), it looks like Disney is trying to recapture the magic of The Mandalorian. But can they win back fans and convince Oscar Isaac to return to the galaxy far, far away?

Only time will tell, but one thing's for sure – with Oscar Isaac on board, anything is possible in a galaxy far, far away...

Fans will be able to see him as Victor Frankenstein in the upcoming movie adaptation of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, directed by Guillermo Del Toro
