Noel Gallagher's Daughter Anais Sparks 'Nepo Baby' Debate: Do You Get What You Deserve?
ANÁIS GALLAGHER: THE NEPO BABY WHO'S TAKING AIM AT HATERS WITH HER BLUNT TRUTHS
In a candid and brutally honest interview, Anais Gallagher, the 25-year-old daughter of Oasis legend Noel Gallagher, has sparked controversy with her comments about being grateful to get paid "to do basically nothing." The British model, who's been dubbed a "nepo baby" due to her famous surname, revealed that she feels privileged to have a life where she doesn't need to work a 9-to-5 job.
Appearing on the YouTube series Backseat Driver, Anais spoke about her experiences as part of the Oasis tour, working with brands, and how she agrees with her dad's carefree attitude towards celebrity life. The clip, which was shared on thescholarlynote.com about a month ago, has since gone viral, with fans flocking to the comments section to either praise or roast Anais for being "out of touch" with reality.
When asked about the criticism surrounding her privileged upbringing and social media presence, Anais shot back at her haters, saying: "I feel an incredible amount of gratitude that I get to be paid to do basically nothing but have a great time with my friends and experience things. I feel like I'm sometimes held to a standard of these influencers who claim relatability or to be the girl next door."
She continued, "But I've never been that way. So sometimes when people say, 'This is not very relatable,' or 'your privilege is showing,' it's just me existing. There's not really much I can do." Anais's blunt confession has sparked a heated debate about her lifestyle and the privileges that come with being a member of the Gallagher family.
Fans were quick to weigh in on social media, with some calling out Anais for being "trivial" and "self-absorbed," while others praised her honesty and willingness to speak her mind. One fan wrote: "Anaïs is so real tho. I love how genuine she is and the don't give a f* attitude is actually crucial." Another comment read: "Not sure why she feels so invested in something she is just a bystander for."
When asked about her social media presence, Anais revealed that she never set out to become an influencer and has always maintained control over what content she posts. She explained, "I don't try to curate myself in any way, because I think that I was in a unique position. I never wanted to be an influencer. I never decided to do anything with social media."
She continued, "I genuinely created my Instagram account when I was like a teenager, just like anybody else, and I remember noticing that loads of people were following me purely just because of my dad. But I never stopped posting." Anais also spoke about how she avoids working with brands that expect her to play a part or conform to certain standards.
"I wouldn't do content with a brand in which I couldn't by accident swear in it, or I couldn't drink or smoke because it wouldn't be authentic to me," she said bluntly. "I'm obviously constantly aware of my privilege and the situation I was born into - it basically means a lot of no complaining."
Anais also addressed criticism surrounding her famous surname and social media presence, saying that people always seem to find fault with everything she does. "You can't f*ing win," she said. "I'll get so many comments being like, 'All you do is talk about your dad,' and I'm like, well, my dad is a massive part of my life because he's my dad."
She continued, "People just always find an issue with everything, especially the nepo baby thing. I'll get people saying, 'You never post about your dad! Why don't you have any photos or videos of your dad? Clearly you don't spend that much time with him.'"
But Anais fired back, saying: "I zone out when you talk about your dad because you'll just be like, 'My dad's picking me up later,' and I just hear your parents picking you up. It's not my fault that when I say, 'My dad's picking me up later,' people are like, 'What time?'"
