No Feud Here: Gellar Clears Up Red Carpet Rumors with Hewitt

Sarah Michelle Gellar broke her silence over rumors of a feud with former co-star Jennifer Love Hewitt

SCANDALOUS SILENCE: Sarah Michelle Gellar Spills Tea on Her Absence from Jennifer Love Hewitt at I Know What You Did Last Summer Premiere

The highly anticipated premiere of the I Know What You Did Last Summer reboot was the talk of Tinseltown, but it seems that one of its most iconic stars, Sarah Michelle Gellar, was in hot water with her former co-star Jennifer Love Hewitt. The drama began when fans noticed that Gellar didn't mention or include Hewitt in an Instagram post about the premiere, despite going out of her way to thank the film's writers and director.

The rumors were sparked after both actresses attended the Los Angeles premiere on Monday, but noticeably didn't pose for a photo together. Fans then took to social media, flooding Gellar's comment section with pleas to explain why Hewitt was missing from her post. One distraught fan wrote, "I love you, but where's Jennifer?" while another begged, "I love you so dearly, but it makes me so sad there is ZERO recognition for Jennifer Lover Hewitt either."

But fear not, dear readers, because Gellar has finally broken her silence to clear up the drama. In a shocking revelation, the 48-year-old actress revealed that she and Hewitt simply missed each other on the red carpet, and to add insult to injury, Hewitt didn't even attend the official after party.

"It was crazy," Gellar explained in an Instagram post. "I never got to see @jenniferlovehewitt, who is fantastic in the movie. I was inside with my kids when the big carpet happened. And unfortunately JLH didn't come to the after party."

Fans were quick to respond, with one relieved commenter writing, "Thanks for clearing that up queen, was making me a little sad because I love you both so much!" Another fan jumped to Gellar's defense, saying, "No need to explain. Some people just love to feed into false drama."

Clearing up the rumors, Gellar insisted that there was no bad blood between herself and Hewitt

But this isn't the first time Gellar and Hewitt have faced rumors of tension between them. In December, a viral interview sparked feud rumors when Gellar seemed frustrated and dismissive when asked about Hewitt's potential involvement in the new film.

"I have nothing to do with that," Gellar curtly replied before ending the interview by smiling and walking off. The awkward exchange left many wondering if there was bad blood between the two actresses, but it seems that Gellar's recent statement has put those rumors to rest.

As for why Gellar wasn't involved in the reboot, fans will be disappointed to learn that Helen Shivers, her iconic character from the original film, met a gruesome demise at the end of the 1997 movie. Despite director Jennifer Kaytin Robinson's attempts to bring her back, Gellar has consistently said she won't be participating in the project.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Robinson joked about trying to convince Gellar to return as Helen Shivers, even suggesting that her character might not have actually died. "I was like, 'What if it's like you weren't dead and you're actually alive, but in hiding?'" she recalled. "And Sarah's like, 'I was on ice. I was the most dead a person could be. You can see my frozen body.'"

It seems that Gellar has finally put the drama to rest, and fans can now focus on enjoying the new film without speculation about tension between its stars.
