Nicolas Cage's Son Prepares to Reveal His Story in Upcoming Documentary

Weston Coppola Cage spoke exclusively with the Daily Mail on August 15 at the Future of Film Association's OPTIX Film Series in Las Vegas, Nevada

Weston Coppola Cage Speaks Out After Felony Assault Case: "I've Eliminated People in My Life, and I'm Getting On with My Recovery"

In a shocking turn of events, Weston Coppola Cage, son of Hollywood A-lister Nicolas Cage, is breaking his silence on the highly publicized felony assault case that has left fans and family members stunned. In an exclusive interview with The Scholarly Note.com, Weston opens up about his experiences, mental health struggles, and his plans for the future.

The 34-year-old musician and actor was sentenced to a two-year mental health diversion program in April after being charged with two felony charges of assault with a deadly weapon. The incident occurred at his mother's Los Angeles home in April 2024, leaving Christina Fulton, Nicolas Cage's ex-girlfriend, shaken and seeking justice.

Weston's sentencing hearing was a dramatic moment for the family, as Christina took the stand to recount the traumatic event. "He shoved his thumb in my eye socket," she recalled, her voice trembling with emotion. "The pain was excruciating. My vision went black. I was losing consciousness." Weston's friend intervened, pulling him off of his mother as he was "crushing" and "suffocating" her.

In the aftermath of the incident, Weston has been seeking rehabilitation rather than prison time, with his lawyer citing that he had already begun mental health treatment prior to the sentencing. The judge's decision to grant a two-year diversionary period instead of imprisonment has sparked debate among fans and critics alike.

The Scholarly Note.com caught up with Weston at the Future of Film Association's OPTIX Film Series in Las Vegas, where he was attending the opening night celebration of Waltzing with Brando, a film about Marlon Brando's focus on ecotourism. Weston seemed to be in high spirits, chatting with stars Billy Zane and John Heder about their experiences working on the project.

Speaking on what these past few months have been like following his sentencing for his felony assault case, Weston said, 'It's strengthened me. I can only give radical forgiveness' (pictured with mom Christina in 2019)

However, when asked about his recent past, Weston's demeanor shifted, and he revealed that he has been through a transformative period since being arrested last year. "It's strengthened me," he confessed. "I can only give radical forgiveness." Weston went on to explain that he had eliminated people in his life who were holding him back and was now focusing on his recovery.

"I've definitely been a target for misconception my whole life," Weston admitted, hinting at the rumors and controversies surrounding his family's past. "But I know it's only because people are intimidated by the calling of [my faith]."

One topic that Weston is particularly passionate about is his upcoming documentary, The Beast of God, which explores his childhood story and spiritual journey. "It'll keep Xanax in business for sure," he teased, hinting at the intense emotional themes covered in the project.

Following the sentencing hearing in April 2025, Fulton had a message for her ex, telling Nicolas in an interview with TMZ, 'Take care of my son, our son' (pictured are Cage and Fulton in 1988)

The documentary will blend biopic reenactments with one-on-one interviews, showcasing Weston's life story and spiritual path. "That's the only thing that's really ever worked for me," he explained.

In recent months, Weston has been focusing on his personal growth and spirituality, particularly since tying the knot with his wife, Jenifer Alexa Canter, in Beverly Hills. The couple met at a young age and have a deep connection, which Weston credits as a source of strength during this challenging time.

"It's been absolutely wonderful," he gushed about their relationship. "Definitely some true alignment had to happen for me, you know, and a lot of spiritual awakenings." When asked about his plans for the future with Jenifer, Weston spoke highly of his wife, calling her "the most profound artist I've ever met."

As part of his 'spiritual awakening,' Weston (pictured with dad Nicolas) told the Daily Mail, 'I just found that I was surrounded with a lot of people in my life that need to be eliminated'

Their love story is one that Weston has spoken about publicly before, as he has been open about their long history together. The couple shares a unique bond, having been born in the same hospital and falling in love as teenagers.

Weston's past relationships have also made headlines in recent years, including his high-profile marriages to Nikki Williams, Danielle Cage, and Hila Cage Coppola. His most recent marriage was finalized last year, after a tumultuous divorce from Hila.

As Weston looks toward the future, he is clear about one thing: his commitment to his faith and his relationship with Jenifer. "I told myself I would never manage someone until I met an artist that I found was so complex and dynamic that I would," he said, speaking highly of his wife's talents.
