Nelly's No-Night Feeding Rule Sparks Parenting Debate

Nelly, 50, is receiving some pushback after revealing his daddy duties do not include diaper duty on a recent episode of  Nelly and Ashanti: We Belong Together.

Nelly's Daddy Drama: Ashanti's Tea Spills All About His Lack of Parenting Skills

In a shocking revelation that has left fans reeling, rapper Nelly, 50, has been exposed as a self-proclaimed "gift" when it comes to being a dad. Yes, you read that right - the hitmaker claims his superpower is tuning out his infant son's cries in the middle of the night.

In a recent episode of their Peacock reality show, Nelly and Ashanti: We Belong Together, viewers got a glimpse into the couple's daily life as parents to their one-year-old son, Kareem. And let's just say, things got real - fast.

The show chronicles the couple's every day life as working artists and new parents

Ashanti, 44, was left fuming when Nelly refused to get up with their baby in the middle of the night. "You know what? It's absolutely ridiculous that you'll still be dead asleep and he'll be mad loud," she chided him, her frustration palpable. But Nelly just shrugged it off, claiming he doesn't hear his son crying. Talk about a tough crowd!

But this isn't the only time Nelly has shown his lack of parenting skills. In an earlier conversation on the show, he implied that Ashanti would be handling most of the childcare duties while he's out touring. "Well, listen, it's all you. I ain't gonna even lie," he said, leaving fans wondering if he's just trying to shift the responsibility onto his partner.

And if that wasn't enough, Nelly also joked that Ashanti should take advantage of her time with Kareem now, because once he starts talking and walking, she'll be stuck with him 24/7. Ouch! Sounds like someone needs a crash course in co-parenting!

When Ashanti, 44, chided Nelly, 50, for not getting up during the night with the baby the Grillz singer replied 'It¿s a gift, I guess,' he retorted, adding, 'I¿m blessed with that tune-out'

But what's really got fans up in arms is Nelly's attitude towards diaper duty. Yes, you read that right - the rapper has explicitly stated that he doesn't do diapers. Like, at all. We're not sure what kind of parenting manual Nelly's been reading, but it's definitely not the one that says "being a responsible parent" means leaving someone else to deal with the mess.

Ashanti's friends have even caught on camera discussing how Nelly expects her to handle most of the childcare duties until Kareem can talk and walk. It seems like Nelly is banking on Ashanti being the ultimate multi-tasker, handling everything from diaper duty to singing along to his tunes.

But let's give Ashanti credit where it's due - she's not one to shy away from a challenge. In an interview promoting their reality show on The Scholarly Note, she said, "I told him before we had him, I said, 'now listen, I'm here, but chasin' toddlers at 50...'" She then added that Nelly would be happy for her to have as many kids as she wants and would hire nannies galore.

Ashanti and Nelly first met in 2003 and had an on-again, off-again relationship for a decade before splitting for another 10 years in 2013;  Pictured in Los Angeles in July 2006

So, what do you think, Scholarly Note readers? Are we witnessing the most epic case of daddy drama in history? Should Nelly be crowned "Father of the Year" or should he stick to his day job as a rapper?
