Nate Bargatze: Keeping Politics Off the Emmys Stage
Emmys Host Nate Bargatze Promises a Politically-Free Night of Laughter and Fun
In a shocking twist, comedian and upcoming Emmy Awards host Nate Bargatze has vowed to keep politics out of his hosting gig on Sunday night in Los Angeles. The 46-year-old funnyman has made it clear that he won't be using the high-profile event as a platform for political commentary, even after the recent tragic death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
In an exclusive interview with Entertainment Weekly, Bargatze explained that he had no intention of delving into politics from the start. "Not at all," he candidly stated when asked about the potential for politics to creep into the show. "I know there's been some heartbreaking stuff going on lately, but I want this night to be an escape – and I think that's why I was brought on board."
Bargatze revealed that his primary goal is to provide a much-needed respite from the stresses of everyday life. "A lot of people are watching these awards because they need a break," he pointed out. "I know they tune in for my stand-up comedy, so I want to keep that trust with them and make this night all about fun."
When asked if there had been any last-minute script changes following Kirk's death – which is believed to have been an isolated incident unrelated to politics – Bargatze reassured that his team has remained committed to their original vision. "We were never really gonna do anything (political) to begin with," he said matter-of-factly.
It seems that the experienced comedian has taken a cue from veteran awards host Jimmy Kimmel, who offered some sage advice during a recent conversation. According to Bargatze, Kimmel emphasized the importance of being prepared for any unexpected events that may arise during the ceremony. "He wrote down a lot of tips for me," Bargatze shared, "including one particularly useful piece of advice: when you're off-camera, just sit down and relax."
Bargatze has also vowed to bring his signature kindness and good humor to the high-profile event, promising not to single out or embarrass any of the celebrities in attendance. "We're not trying to be mean-spirited," he stressed. "I want it to be a fun, silly night that everyone can enjoy."
As for handling any unexpected events, Bargatze has learned from Kimmel's expertise and is ready to think on his feet. "If something weird happens, I'm prepared to address it," he confidently stated. "It's nice to hope nothing like that happens, but I'm very aware of what I need to do if it does."
With the stage all set for a Politically-Free Night at the Emmys, fans can rest assured that they'll be treated to a fun and entertaining evening – minus any potential controversy or drama.
