MTV VMAs 2025: Lady Gaga Leads, Beyoncé & Taylor Swift Face Off for Artist of the Year!

In a shocking turn of events, the one and only Lady Gaga has stolen the show with an impressive 12 nominations for the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) - breaking her own record as the most nominated artist in VMA history! This is not the first time our Little Monster has taken center stage, but it's clear she's not done yet.

Gaga's dominating force is closely followed by Bruno Mars with a respectable 11 nods and Kendrick Lamar hot on their heels with 10. But don't count out pop sensations Rosé and Sabrina Carpenter just yet - they're each bringing home an impressive eight nominations, including in the coveted Best Pop and Artist of the Year categories.

This year, the VMAs have introduced two new categories - Best Country and Best Pop Artist - which are sure to heat things up even more. And who can forget about the coveted Artist of the Year award? It'll be a battle royale between Bad Bunny, Beyoncé, Kendrick Lamar, Lady Gaga, Morgan Wallen, Taylor Swift, and The Weeknd.

As for the newcomers, five talented artists are vying for the Best New Artist award: Alex Warren, Ella Langley, Gigi Perez, Lola Young, Sombr, and The Marías. Will one of these fresh faces take home the prize?

And finally, let's talk about the albums. Six artists have made it to the final round for Best Album: Bad Bunny (Debí Tirar Más Fotos), Kendrick Lamar (GNX), Lady Gaga (Mayhem), Morgan Wallen (I’m the Problem), Sabrina Carpenter (Short n’ Sweet), and The Weeknd (Hurry Up Tomorrow).

The winners will be announced on Sunday, September 7, at the star-studded bash held at the UBS Arena in New York City. And for the first time ever, CBS will simulcast the awards live alongside MTV, while Paramount+ will stream the show globally.
