Mom Guilt and a Misdiagnosis: Teen Mom Star Kailyn Lowry's Health Scare
TEEN MOM SHOCKER: KAILYN LOWRY'S SON RIO'S MYSTERIOUS LUMP LEAVES HER 'FREAKED OUT'!
In a shocking turn of events, Teen Mom alum Kailyn Lowry has revealed that her two-year-old son Rio's mysterious lump on his belly has been diagnosed as neoplasia - a tumor - leaving the mom of seven feeling "freaked out" and stressing about potential surgery plans!
The 33-year-old reality TV star shared the jaw-dropping news on her popular podcast, Coffee Convos, where she spilled the beans about Rio's health scare. According to Lowry, she initially thought the lump was a harmless hernia that would "resolve itself," but as it grew worse over time, she became increasingly concerned.
"It started off as just a little bump above his bellybutton," Lowry explained on her podcast. "And I thought it was from the ISR swim lessons because he has to roll over and float on his back, and so I thought the stress of that created this like little lump that looked like a hernia."
But when Rio's condition failed to improve, Lowry sought medical attention once again - only to be told by her pediatrician that it wasn't a hernia after all! "The pediatrician was like, 'This is not a hernia, I'm going to get you in for ultrasound ASAP'... or I think she said stat!"
And what did the ultrasound reveal? Well, according to Lowry, Rio's lump was actually "consistent with lymph node. The differential include granuloma or complex cyst. Neoplasia cannot be excluded"... and neoplasia is a tumor! Talk about a health scare!
Lowry confessed that she was initially in denial about the diagnosis, but after seeking advice from her aunt, a pathologist, she realized that the only way to get to the bottom of things was to have the entire lump removed during a potential biopsy.
"And then it said, 'options are clinical follow-up or tissue diagnosis.' Which I think a tissue diagnosis would be a biopsy, which is fine," Lowry explained. "My aunt is a pathologist in Pennsylvania, I texted it to her, and she told me... 'If they're going to sedate him to do a biopsy, have them just remove the whole thing.' So that's what we're going to do..."
And let this be a lesson to all parents out there: when it comes to your child's health, don't take no for an answer! As Lowry so aptly put it, "When it comes to your health, check everything out, because I really thought it was a hernia this whole time."
Thescholarlynote.com has learned that Lowry shared a photo of her son undergoing the ultrasound on Monday, showing Rio sitting on his mother's lap as the technician processed the procedure. The image sparked a flurry of concern and support from fans and followers alike.
As for Lowry, she's clearly shaken by the diagnosis but determined to do what's best for her little one. "I say all this to say, when it comes to your health, check everything out, because I really thought it was a hernia this whole time," she emphasized. "They told me it was going to resolve itself, I didn’t ask for a second opinion... And if you have access to medical treatment or care, like go check it out, because now I’m like, mom guilt, and then also just like the fact that neoplasia cannot be ruled out just freaked me out."
