Miracle Update: Teddi Mellencamp's Cancer Now 'Undetectable'!
REALITY TV STAR TEDDI MELLENCAMP DEFIES ODDS, REVEALS CANCER IS NOW "UNDTECTABLE" AFTER BATTLING STAGE 4 MELANOMA
In a shocking turn of events, Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum Teddi Mellencamp has delivered some incredible news to her fans. The 44-year-old reality TV star was first diagnosed with melanoma in 2022 and, as we previously reported on thescholarlynote.com, revealed that the cancer had progressed to stage four and metastasized to her lungs and brain.
But what many of you may not know is that Teddi's journey with melanoma has been a long and arduous one. The mom-of-three has undergone a total of 17 surgeries to remove melanomas from her back, but it wasn't until she revealed in April of this year that the cancer had reached an alarming stage that fans began to rally around her.
Now, in a heartwarming update shared on her iHeartRadio podcast Two T's in a Pod, Teddi has dropped some jaw-dropping news: her cancer is now "undetectable" thanks to her ongoing immunotherapy treatment.
"I just wanted to give you guys a little life update," she began, her voice trembling with emotion. "I had my immunotherapy yesterday, and they did my scans... and at this point, there's no detectable cancer."
Teddi went on to explain that while the news is still sinking in, it's not quite time to pop the champagne just yet. She'll need to continue undergoing immunotherapy for another year before she can be considered in remission.
"I'm still going to have days when I feel sick and stuff because I'm still in treatment," she shared candidly. "But [the doctors] said that at this point, it's like one year, then two years, then at three years you're allowed to be considered... in remission."
Teddi's co-host, Dolores Catania (filling in for her usual partner Tamra Judge), couldn't help but tear up as she shared her thoughts on the incredible update. "You did it girl! You didn't give up for one day. You've fought harder than anybody I know," she gushed.
Teddi, who has been open about her struggles with treatment and its effects on her family, revealed that only her eldest child, Slate (12), seems to have a grasp of the situation. "It's just Slate that really understands," she shared. "People think just because the cancer is gone, I can still get sick or whatever... but I'm still in treatment."
We previously reported on thescholarlynote.com about Teddi's harrowing journey with melanoma, including her emergency surgery to remove large tumors from her brain and subsequent radiation and immunotherapy treatments.
But what's just as fascinating is how she's been documenting each step of her treatment and recovery online. In April, Teddi attended a cancer benefit where she proudly showed off her head scars without wearing a wig - a bold move that left fans in awe.
In a candid Instagram post, the Real Housewives alum revealed that her emotions often dictate whether or not she wears a wig for the day. "The highs and lows of treatment for stage 4 brain and lung tumors are pretty extreme," she wrote. "Please go get your yearly checks" - a poignant reminder to fans about Melanoma Awareness Month.
And in true Teddi style, she even shared a selfie with her signature blonde mane, but with a caption that left little room for misinterpretation: "Crying days I tend to pick the wig."
So here's to Teddi Mellencamp, a true warrior who continues to inspire us all with her unbreakable spirit and unwavering dedication to spreading awareness about melanoma. As she herself said on her podcast, "You have to be" - a mantra we can all live by.
