Michelle Obama on Parenting Clash: Ferber Method Sparks Debate

Michelle Obama has revealed that she and her husband, former President Barack Obama , clashed over implementing one parenting technique with their two daughters, Malia, 26, and Sasha, 24, when they were younger

EXCLUSIVE: Michelle Obama Reveals Shocking Parenting Clash with Barack Over Infamous Sleep-Training Technique - And It's a Game-Changer!

In a jaw-dropping confession, former First Lady Michelle Obama has spilled the beans on a parenting technique that almost drove her to the brink of madness - and it's a method that even the most seasoned parents might be familiar with: the Ferber Method. But here's the twist: Michelle was firmly against using this technique on their daughters Malia and Sasha when they were just tiny tots, while Barack was adamant about giving it a go.

The drama unfolded during the latest episode of Michelle's podcast, IMO, where she dished out all the juicy details with her brother Craig Robinson. It seems that when their daughters were just four or five months old, Michelle and Barack found themselves at odds over whether to use this sleep-training technique, which involves letting your baby cry it out without intervening for a set period.

During the latest Wednesday episode of her IMO podcast, which she hosts with her older brother Craig Robinson, the former first lady admitted that she and Barack ran into some trouble as they didn't see eye-to-eye on the Ferber Method

"I didn't want to do it," Michelle confessed, admitting that she was torn about the idea of allowing her little ones to wail away without any intervention. "Barack did it. I don't know that I could have done it, because I wasn't sure about it... Maybe it was something about estrogen and my response to the crying, so we set it up where Barack took the night shift, and I went to bed."

But what made this situation even more complicated was Michelle's own emotional response to her daughters' cries. "I would have to cover my ears so I couldn't literally hear the crying," she revealed, sharing that she found it unbearable to listen to their tiny voices wailing away.

Despite her initial reservations, Michelle eventually came around to the idea of using the Ferber Method, and - amazingly enough - it worked like a charm. Their daughters adapted to the new routine in just a week, and Michelle credits Barack's night shift duties for getting her some much-needed sleep during that time.

'Well, I didn't want to do it, right, Barack did it. I don't know that I could have done it, because I wasn't sure about it, the notion that you just let the little person that you love the most cry and cry and cry,' Michelle shared

The revelation comes hot on the heels of Michelle's recent admission about her relationship with her daughters as they entered their teenage years. Speaking on The Sibling Revelry podcast hosted by Kate and Olivia Hudson, Michelle opened up about how Malia and Sasha started "pushing away" from their parents as they navigated adulthood.

"It's a 'push away' that celebrity kids go through," she shared, referencing the phenomenon where children of famous parents often struggle to carve out their own identities. "They're trying to distinguish themselves. It's very important for my kids to feel like they've earned what they are getting in the world."

As Malia and Sasha have grown older, Michelle has had to adapt to this new reality, acknowledging that her daughters are now 26 and 23, respectively. And while it's been an adjustment, Michelle is proud of the young women they're becoming.

The mother-of-two explained that she believes her daughters distanced themselves because they wanted to 'distinguish themselves' from their famous parents as they became adults during a recent appearance on the Sibling Revelry podcast hosted by Kate and Olivia Hudson

But back to the Ferber Method - what do you think, folks? Would you give this technique a try, or would you stick with more traditional parenting methods? Let us know in the comments below!

However, it turned out that the method worked quite well for their family, as it took no longer than a week for the girls to get used to it

The couple, who have been together for over 30 years, welcomed their firstborn Malia in 1998, and Sasha in 2001
